Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 26.60 arrived on October 27, 2026. This is a large update bringing experimental features from the upcoming game drop, plus more than 600 bug fixes, 89 of which came from community reports.
New Experimental Features (Drop 4 of 2026)
- Ice Cave biome: A new underground biome that generates beneath cold Overworld biomes. It is made mostly of Packed Ice and Calcite, with patches of Snow, Stone and Deepslate ore pockets, and no Glow Lichen.
- Icicles: A new speleothem-like block that hangs from Packed Ice on cave ceilings. They can grow up to 5 blocks long, fall when exposed to enough light, and deal damage on impact. They break in the Nether or near light sources.
- Ice Crystals: The only light source in Ice Caves. They grow on top of Packed Ice, emit light, can be placed in any direction, and break if their support block is removed. Note: they are currently smaller than intended.
- Frostbite mob: A new Zombie variant that spawns in cold and icy biomes. It switches between melee attacks (which apply the Freezing effect) and throwing Ice Balls. It stands on Powder Snow, is immune to freezing, and drops Rotten Flesh and Ice Balls. Zombies and Husks now transform into Frostbites when inside Powder Snow.
- Ice Ball: A new throwable projectile used by Frostbites. It deals 4 damage (scaling with velocity), has knockback, and breaks on impact.
- Freezing mob effect: Causes affected players to shake, reduces jump height, and eventually deals damage. Leather Armor prevents players from becoming frozen, similar to Powder Snow. Potions, Lingering Potions, Splash Potions, and Arrows of Freezing can be brewed or crafted using Ice Balls.
Gameplay and Content Changes
- Minecraft is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, with Vibrant Visuals support.
- Several Explorer Maps have been renamed for consistency: Ocean Explorer Map is now Ocean Monument Map, Swamp Explorer Map is now Swamp Hut Map, Trial Explorer Map is now Buried Trial Chambers Map, Woodland Explorer Map is now Woodland Mansion Map, and Jungle Explorer Map is now Jungle Pyramid Map.
- Trapdoors now have snappable placement: holding the place control locks the placement direction until released.
- Shulkers are now pushed by Pistons and blocks moved by Pistons, matching Java Edition behavior.
- Players no longer stop sneaking when touching water.
- Large Fireballs no longer ignite targets on hit.
- Red and Brown Mushrooms can now be placed on any block with a solid top face regardless of light level.
- Effects with weaker strength but longer duration now correctly resume after a stronger but shorter effect of the same type expires.
- Worlds that had achievements incorrectly disabled due to add-on use will have them re-enabled on first play after this update.

What this means for your server
New server settings were added related to entity attack request compatibility and targeted-actor range. Server owners should review these dedicated server settings after updating.
Players must be on version 26.60 to join a server running this update. Players on older versions will not be able to connect.
If your server runs add-ons and achievements were incorrectly disabled, they will be automatically re-enabled the first time the world is loaded after this update.
The new experimental Ice Cave features are opt-in and will not affect existing worlds unless you enable them. Explorer Map renames may affect any command scripts or signs that reference the old map names.
