Icarus Week 257 Update: Spelunking Mission Revamp

Icarus received its Week 257 update on November 5, 2026, bringing a major rework to the Spelunking Operation in the Olympus Region. Version 3.0.35.159586 also includes a handful of bug fixes and a preview of upcoming content.

Spelunking Mission Rework

• The Spelunking Operation has been redesigned from the ground up. The heavy mining requirements have been reduced and replaced with more varied challenges.
• Players now discover a pre-existing mining hut and signs of past activity, including a fallen prospector and a caveworm, rather than arriving with no context.
• The rework removes the Workshop pickaxes that were previously granted as rewards, replacing them with on-world alternatives and reducing the total ore required to complete the operation.
• Higher-tier ores such as titanium and platinum have been removed from the cave and from delivery requirements, eliminating a common soft-lock.
• Silica and sulfur nodes have been added outside the cave so players always have access to the resources they need.
• Exotics are now discovered more organically during the operation rather than simply paid out as a flat completion reward.
• Quest markers, dialogue, objective text, and the pod spawn location have all been updated to match the new flow.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed caveworms, landsharks, and sandworms spawning at incorrect sizes.
• Fixed several typos and wording issues in quest text.
• Edited the carbon fishing rod item description to be less verbose.
• Corrected mission objective text in the Styx cave research mission to show the right order for powering up the analyzer.
• Improved clarity in the Courier Quest jump-start stage text.

Coming Next Week

• A new Workshop Battery Lantern is in development. Like the Workshop Flashlight, it will come pre-charged and ready to use.

What this means for your server

The Spelunking Operation has changed significantly. Players who were mid-way through the old version of the quest may find their progress affected. It is worth letting your players know before they log in.

There are no reported world wipes or server setting changes in this update. Players must be on the same version as the server to connect, so make sure your server is updated promptly. If you use mods, check with the mod authors for compatibility with 3.0.35.159586.
