Factorio 2.1 is now marked stable as of October 23, 2026, two years after the Space Age expansion launched. After a long experimental period, the update is ready for everyone. This is a large content and quality-of-life release covering space logistics, circuit networks, balance changes, new graphics, and more.
Space Platform and Logistics
- Rockets can now carry multiple different item types in a single launch, so you no longer need to send full stacks of everything.
- Leave the Import from slot blank to pull items from all locations at once, useful for fuel, ammo, and repair packs.
- Platforms can now transfer items to and from other platforms in orbit.
- A new landing pad unloading bay lets inserters pull items directly from the landing pad into trains, chests, or belts.
- Asteroid damage now depends on an asteroid's remaining health rather than its speed, making it more predictable.
- Platform drag is now based on mass instead of width, so ship shape matters less for speed.

Circuit Network and Gameplay Changes
- Circuit reads and writes can now be directed to different wire colors, replacing the old self-subtraction behavior.
- Labs, boilers, heat exchangers, land mines, and pipes can all now be connected to the circuit network.
- Quality is now a recommended but optional dependency for Space Age. The Recycler has been split into its own mod, so you can play without Quality if you prefer.
- Quality locomotives and wagons are now in the game, offering faster trains and larger cargo capacity.
- Fluid mixing prevention is back: pipelines carrying different fluids will no longer merge and will show a warning instead.
- Pumpjacks and burner miners can now be flipped.
- Enemy expansion groups now scale with evolution, making them a more meaningful challenge.

New Graphics and Platform Support
- New visuals for assembling machines, the oil refinery, rocket silo, and heat exchanger.
- Planets are now visible in the background of space platforms.
- Factorio now runs natively on ARM64 Linux, including Raspberry Pi headless servers, Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon, and similar hardware.
What this means for your server
There are a few important compatibility points to be aware of before updating.
2.0 save games will load in 2.1, but some changes such as the circuit Input/Output split may break existing factory designs. Once updated, saves and blueprints cannot be downgraded back to 2.0.
Back up any saves and blueprints you care about before updating. Most popular mods were updated during the experimental period, but some mods may not be ready yet.
Players on 2.0 will need to update their game client to join a 2.1 server. If you use mods, check that they have been updated before bringing your server back online.
