How to Ban and Unban Players on Your V Rising Server by Steam64 ID

3 min read·Updated Nov 6, 2026

Learn how to ban and unban players on your V Rising server from the RiverHosting panel so troublemakers stay out and your community stays friendly.

Every community runs into a problem player sooner or later. On a V Rising server you can block that person from connecting using the RiverHosting panel. Bans in V Rising work with a player's Steam64 ID, not their display name, so this guide shows you where to find the ID and the two places in the panel where you can add or remove a ban.

Before you start

  • You need access to your V Rising server in the RiverHosting panel at https://panel.riverhosting.com.
  • You need the player's Steam64 ID. This is a number that is exactly 17 digits long. Names are not accepted.
  • You do not need to stop your server. V Rising reloads the ban list while it is running.
Why a Steam64 ID?

V Rising has no live player list that the panel can read, so the panel cannot look a player up by name. The Steam64 ID is the one thing that identifies the account for sure.

1. How to find a player's Steam64 ID

The Admins & Bans page suggests two places to get an ID:

  1. Look the player up on steamid.io and copy the number shown as the Steam64 ID.
  2. Or click Console in the left-hand menu and look through the server logs for the player's ID around the time they connected.

Make sure you copy all 17 digits with no spaces.

2. How to ban a player from the Players page

This is the quickest method if you only want to ban one account.

  1. Click Players in the left-hand menu.
  2. The page opens in Manual Player Management mode. Click the text box that normally asks for the exact in-game player name.
  3. Paste the player's 17-digit Steam64 ID into the box.
  4. Click Ban.

The ID is added to the server's ban list, which is the same list used on the Admins & Bans page.

Use the ID, not the name

The Players page says that ban and unban require the player's Steam64 ID, not their display name. Typing a name will not ban anyone.

3. How to manage the ban list from the Admins & Bans tab

Use this page when you want to see everyone who is banned, add several bans, or lift a ban.

  1. In the GAME section of the left-hand menu, click V Rising, then the Admins & Bans tab at the top of the page.
  2. Find the Bans list. This list blocks the listed accounts from connecting to your server.
  3. Type the player's ID into the Steam64 ID (17 digits) box in the Bans list.
  4. Click Add. The ID now appears in the list.
  5. Click Refresh if you want to reload both lists and check that everything is up to date.
Keep a note of who is who

The list only shows ID numbers. Write down the player name next to each ID somewhere safe so you remember why someone was banned.

4. How to unban a player

  1. In the GAME section of the left-hand menu, click V Rising, then the Admins & Bans tab at the top of the page.
  2. In the Bans list, find the player's Steam64 ID.
  3. Click the trash button next to that entry to remove it.

Because V Rising reloads the ban list while it runs, the change does not need a server restart.

5. What about kicking a player?

The Kick button on the Players page always fails on V Rising, because the game has no remote kick. Only an in-game admin can remove a player, by typing the /kick chat command in the game. If you need to set up an admin first, use the Admins list on the same Admins & Bans tab. New admins take effect after a restart.

Banning versus kicking

A ban stops an account from connecting. A kick only removes a player from the current session. If someone is online right now and causing trouble, ask an in-game admin to use /kick.

Troubleshooting

  • The ID will not add: The Admins & Bans page only accepts 17-digit Steam64 IDs. Check that you did not copy a name, a shortened number, or an extra space.
  • The ban did not work from the Players page: Make sure you pasted the Steam64 ID and not the player's name.
  • The player is still in the game: A ban blocks accounts from connecting. For someone already online, ask an in-game admin to use /kick.
  • The list looks out of date: Click Refresh on the Admins & Bans tab to reload it.
  • I banned the wrong person: Remove their ID with the trash button in the Bans list.
