How to Configure Your V Rising Server Settings from the Panel

    4 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to adjust your V Rising server settings from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise your world rules, difficulty, and gameplay without editing files by hand.

V Rising gives you a lot of control over how your server plays. You can adjust everything from blood drain rates and castle decay to PvP rules and resource drop amounts. The RiverHosting panel puts all of these options in one place so you do not need to edit any files manually.

This guide walks you through the main configuration pages available for your V Rising server and explains what each one is for.

    Before you start

    • You need an active V Rising server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your V Rising server.
    • Stop your server before making configuration changes. This prevents settings from being overwritten when the server saves on shutdown.
    Stop your server first

Always stop your V Rising server before saving changes to any configuration page. If the server is running when it shuts down, it may overwrite your new settings with the old ones.

    1. Adjust general server settings with Server Config

The Server Config page is the main place to change how your V Rising server behaves. It covers the most common settings that affect all players on your server.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and select your V Rising server.
    2. Stop the server using the Stop button at the top of the page.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    4. You will see a set of fields covering options such as:
      • Server name and description
      • Maximum player count
      • Server password
      • Game mode (PvP or PvE)
      • Blood drain, castle decay, and resource settings
    5. Make your changes, then click Save.
    6. Start the server again using the Start button.
    Keep your server name memorable

Choose a clear, short server name so your friends can find it easily in the in-game server browser. You can also set a password here if you want a private server.

    2. Customise gameplay rules with Game Rules

The Game Rules page lets you fine-tune the gameplay experience beyond the basic settings. This is where you go if you want to change things like how fast players drain blood, how quickly castles decay, or whether PvP is allowed at specific times.

    1. Make sure the server is stopped.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Game Rules.
    3. Browse through the available options. Common settings on this page include:
      • Daytime and nighttime duration
      • Blood drain rate and combat difficulty
      • Castle decay and siege rules
      • Drop rates for resources and gear
      • Clan size limits
    4. Adjust the values to suit your community, then click Save.
    5. Restart the server for the changes to take effect.
Boosted rates for a casual experience

If you want a more relaxed server where players progress faster, try increasing resource drop rates and reducing blood drain. This is a popular choice for friend groups who play casually.

    3. Manage admins and bans with Admins and Bans

The Admins and Bans page is where you control who has admin access on your server and who is blocked from joining.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Admins & Bans.
    2. To add an admin, enter the player's Steam ID in the admin list and save. That player will have access to in-game admin commands after the server restarts.
    3. To ban a player, enter their Steam ID in the ban list and save. They will not be able to connect to your server.
    4. To remove an admin or unban a player, find their entry in the list and delete it, then save.
    Finding a Steam ID

A Steam ID is a unique number tied to a Steam account. The player can find their own Steam ID by visiting store.steampowered.com and checking their profile URL, or by using a tool like steamid.io.

    4. Manage worlds and saves with Worlds and Saves

The Worlds and Saves page lets you view and manage the save files for your V Rising server. This is useful if you want to reset the world, switch to a different save, or check what saves are currently stored.

    1. Stop the server before touching any save files.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Worlds & Saves.
    3. You will see a list of available saves. From here you can:
      • Select which save the server loads on startup
      • Delete an old save you no longer need
      • Review save file details
    4. Make your selection, save your changes, and restart the server.
    Deleting a save is permanent

If you delete a world save from the Worlds and Saves page, it cannot be recovered unless you have a backup. Always create a backup from the Backups page before deleting anything.

    Troubleshooting

    • My settings are not saving. Make sure the server is fully stopped before you save changes. If the server is running during a save, it can overwrite your edits on shutdown.
    • The server is not applying my Game Rules changes. After saving any settings, you must restart the server fully. A reload alone may not pick up all config changes.
    • A player I added as admin does not have admin access in-game. Confirm the Steam ID is entered correctly with no extra spaces. The server also needs to be restarted after adding an admin for the change to take effect.
    • My world reset and I lost progress. Check the Worlds and Saves page to confirm which save is set as active. If the wrong save was loaded, restore from a backup using the Backups page.
    • I cannot find a setting I am looking for. Some advanced options may require manual file editing via the File Manager. If you are unsure, contact support before editing files directly.
