How to Change the Max Player Slot Count on Your V Rising Server

    2 min read·Updated Jul 22, 2026

Learn how to change the maximum number of players allowed on your V Rising server from the RiverHosting panel so your sessions are exactly the right size for your group.

By default, your V Rising server is set to allow a certain number of players at once. Whether you want to open things up for a larger group or keep your server private and tight-knit, you can adjust the maximum player count quickly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files by hand.

    Before you start

    • Make sure you are logged in to the RiverHosting panel.
    • Select your V Rising server from your server list.
    • Your server can be running while you make this change, but a restart will be required for it to take effect.
    Plan ahead

If you are setting up a private game with friends, a lower player limit helps keep your world exclusive. If you are running a community server, a higher limit gives more people a chance to join at the same time.

    1. Open the Server Config page

The easiest way to change the player slot limit on a V Rising server is through the dedicated Server Config page in the panel.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your V Rising server.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    3. Look for the setting that controls the maximum number of players. It is usually labelled something like Max Connected Users or Max Players.
    4. Change the value to the number of players you want to allow on your server at the same time.
    5. Save your changes using the save or apply button on the page.
    Restart required

The new player limit will not take effect until you restart your server. Players already connected will not be disconnected immediately, but the new cap will apply once the server comes back up.

    2. Restart your server to apply the change

After saving the new setting, you need to restart your server so V Rising picks up the updated limit.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Console.
    2. Use the Restart button at the top of the Console page to restart your server.
    3. Wait for the server to come back online. This usually takes around a minute.
    4. Once the server is running again, the new player slot limit is active.
    All done

Your V Rising server will now accept up to the number of players you set. Anyone who tries to join beyond that limit will see the server as full.

    Troubleshooting

    • The player limit does not seem to have changed. Make sure you saved your settings on the Server Config page before restarting. Go back to Server Config and check the value is still what you entered.
    • Players are still being turned away even though slots are available. Check whether a password is set on your server. Players without the correct password cannot join regardless of the slot count. You can review this on the Server Config page as well.
    • The server is not restarting properly. If the restart button on the Console page does not bring the server back online within a couple of minutes, try using the Stop button first and then Start. If the problem continues, contact support.
    • I cannot find the Server Config page. Make sure you have selected your V Rising server and are looking in the left-hand menu. If the page is missing, your server setup may need attention from the support team.
