How to Configure Your Stationeers Server Settings from the Panel

    4 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to configure your Stationeers server settings from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise your game without editing any files by hand.

Stationeers is a deep simulation game about building and managing space stations and planetary bases. When you host a Stationeers server on RiverHosting, you can adjust the most important server settings directly from the panel without needing to edit configuration files by hand.

This guide walks you through the key pages in your server panel and explains what each one does so you can get your server set up the way you want it.

    Before you start

    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • Select your Stationeers server from the server list.
    • Make sure your server is stopped before changing major settings. Some changes only take effect on the next startup.
    Stop before changing

Stopping your server before making changes helps ensure settings are read correctly on the next start. You can stop it using the red Stop button at the top of the page.

    1. Configure your server settings from the Server Config page

The Server Config page is where you control the core settings for your Stationeers server. This includes options like the server name, the world it runs, the maximum number of players, and whether a password is required to join.

    1. Open your server page in the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Click Server Config in the left-hand menu.
    3. Review the available settings. Common options you may want to adjust include:
      • Server name: the name shown in the server browser.
      • Server password: leave this blank for a public server, or enter a password to restrict access.
      • Max players: the maximum number of players allowed at one time.
      • Auto-save interval: how often the server saves the world automatically.
    4. Make your changes and save them using the Save button.
    5. Restart your server for the changes to take effect.
    Settings and the world

Some settings in Server Config are tied to the world you are running. If you change the world from the World page, some options may reset or be overridden by that world's stored values.

    2. Manage your world from the World page

The World page lets you choose and manage the world your Stationeers server loads. This is where you can select the planet or environment your server runs on and manage the saved world data.

    1. Click World in the left-hand menu.
    2. Review the current world loaded on your server.
    3. If you want to change the world or start fresh, you can do that from this page.
    4. Save your selection and restart the server to load the new world.
Changing your world removes existing progress

Starting a new world or switching to a different world will remove your existing world data unless you have made a backup first. Use the Backups tab before making this change.

    3. Run admin commands from the RCON console

The RCON page gives you an in-panel admin console where you can run server commands without needing any external RCON tool. This is useful for things like managing players, saving the world on demand, or running other admin tasks while the server is live.

    1. Click RCON in the left-hand menu.
    2. Make sure your server is running.
    3. Type your command into the input field and press Enter or click the send button.
    4. The response from the server will appear in the output area above.
RCON requires the server to be online

The RCON console only works while your server is running. If your server is stopped, start it first before trying to send commands.

    4. Install and manage mods from the Mods page

The Mods page lets you manage any mods you want to run on your Stationeers server. Stationeers supports mods that can change gameplay, add content, or adjust how the simulation works.

    1. Click Mods in the left-hand menu.
    2. Review any mods currently installed on your server.
    3. Follow the on-screen options to add or remove mods as needed.
    4. Restart your server after making changes to the mod list so they load correctly.
    Mod compatibility

Not all mods are compatible with every version of Stationeers or with each other. If your server fails to start after adding a mod, check the Console for error messages and try removing the recently added mod.

    5. Check your connection details on the Network page

The Network page shows the IP address and port your players use to connect to your server. You can share these details with your friends so they can join.

    1. Click Network in the left-hand menu.
    2. Find your server's IP address and game port listed on this page.
    3. Share these details with the players you want to invite.
    Custom subdomain

You can set up a custom subdomain for your server using the Subdomain Manager in the left-hand menu. Instead of sharing a raw IP and port, your players can connect using an address like mystation.playriver.net.

    Troubleshooting

    • Changes are not taking effect. Make sure you saved your changes on the Server Config page and fully restarted the server afterwards. A reload is not always enough for config changes.
    • Server fails to start after a config change. Open the Console tab and look for error messages near the bottom of the log. A typo or invalid value in a setting is a common cause.
    • RCON console is not responding. The server must be fully started and online before RCON commands will work. Wait for the server to finish loading and try again.
    • World is not loading correctly. Check the World page to confirm the correct world is selected, and check the Console for any errors related to world loading.
    • Players cannot connect. Check the Network page to confirm you are sharing the correct IP and port. Also check that the server is fully started before players try to join.
