How to Use the In-Panel RCON Console on Your Stationeers Server
Learn how to use the built-in RCON console on your Stationeers server from the RiverHosting panel so you can run admin commands without leaving your browser.
Your Stationeers server supports RCON, which stands for Remote Console. It lets you send commands directly to your running server without needing any external tool or technical setup. The RiverHosting panel includes a built-in RCON page so you can do this straight from your browser in just a few clicks.
This guide walks you through finding the RCON page, connecting to your server, and running commands.
Before you start
- Your Stationeers server must be running before you can use RCON. If it is offline, start it from the top of your server page first.
- You will need your RCON password. This is set in your server configuration. If you have not set one yet, see the section below on how to do that first.
- You must be the server owner or a subuser with panel access to use the RCON page.
RCON only works while your server is running. If you send commands to an offline server, the connection will fail.
1. How to find and open the RCON page
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Click on your Stationeers server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click RCON.
- You will see a connection form with fields for the RCON host, port, and password.
In most cases the panel will pre-fill your server's RCON host and port automatically. You only need to enter your RCON password to connect.
2. How to set your RCON password before connecting
If you have not set an RCON password yet, you need to do that before you can connect. You can set it from the Server Config page in the panel.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- Look for the RCON password field and enter a password of your choice.
- Save your changes and restart your server for the new password to take effect.
Your RCON password gives full admin access to your server, so use something that is not easy to guess. Avoid simple words or short passwords.
3. How to connect and run commands
- Go back to the RCON page in the left-hand menu.
- Enter your RCON password in the password field.
- Click Connect (or the equivalent button shown on the page).
- Once connected, you will see a console input area at the bottom of the page.
- Type your command into the input box and press Enter or click Send to run it.
Commands are sent directly to your live server and the response will appear in the console output area above the input box.
Some common Stationeers server commands you can run via RCON include things like saving the world or listing connected players. Check the official Stationeers documentation for a full list of supported server commands.
4. How to disconnect when you are done
- When you have finished running commands, click Disconnect on the RCON page.
- This closes the RCON session safely. Your server continues running normally.
If you close the browser tab or navigate away, your RCON session will end on its own. There is no need to disconnect manually if you are just closing the panel.
Troubleshooting
- Connection refused or timed out: Make sure your server is fully started and not still in the process of loading. Wait a minute after startup and try again.
- Wrong password error: Double-check the RCON password in your Server Config and make sure you restarted the server after saving any changes to it.
- RCON page not connecting: Try refreshing the panel page and attempting the connection again. If the issue continues, restart your server from the panel and wait for it to fully load before trying RCON again.
- Commands not working as expected: Make sure you are typing commands in the correct format. Stationeers server commands may differ from in-game commands. Refer to the official Stationeers wiki for accurate command syntax.
