How to Change the Max Player Slot Count on Your Stationeers Server
Learn how to change the maximum number of players on your Stationeers server using the RiverHosting panel so your crew always has room to join.
By default, your Stationeers server comes with a set player limit. If you want to open your server up to more friends or trim it down to a smaller private group, you can change the maximum player slot count directly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files by hand.
Before you start
- You need an active Stationeers server with RiverHosting.
- Log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com before following these steps.
- You will need to restart your server after saving the change for it to take effect.
Restarting the server to apply the new player limit will briefly disconnect any players who are online. Let your crew know before you make the change.
1. How to change the max player slot count from Server Config
The quickest way to change the player limit on your Stationeers server is through the built-in Server Config page in the panel. This lets you update the setting without touching any configuration files directly.
- Go to panel.riverhosting.com and open your Stationeers server.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- Look for the player limit or max players setting on the Server Config page.
- Update the value to the number of players you want to allow on your server at one time.
- Click Save to store your changes.
- Restart your server so the new limit takes effect. You can do this from the Console page using the restart button at the top of the page.
Keep your player limit realistic for the size of your server plan. Running a large crew on a smaller plan can put pressure on performance. If you notice slowdowns, consider upgrading your plan from the billing portal.
2. How to confirm the change worked
Once your server has restarted, you can confirm the new player limit is active by checking a couple of things.
- Open the Console from the left-hand menu.
- Look through the startup log for a line that confirms the server has loaded with your updated player limit. Stationeers typically prints server configuration details during startup.
- Try joining the server yourself to make sure it is running normally after the restart.
If the limit does not seem to have changed after restarting, go back to Server Config and double-check that the value was saved correctly before the restart. Make sure you clicked Save before restarting.
Troubleshooting
- The Server Config page does not show a player limit field. Try refreshing the page. If it is still missing, contact support as the field may need to be enabled for your specific setup.
- The server is not accepting the new player count after a restart. Check the Console log for any errors at startup. A misconfigured value can sometimes prevent the setting from applying correctly.
- Players are being disconnected or the server is struggling with performance. A higher player count puts more load on the server. Consider upgrading your server plan from billing.riverhosting.com if you plan to run a larger group regularly.
- The setting reverted after a restart. Make sure you saved the change on the Server Config page before restarting. If the issue continues, reach out to RiverHosting support.
