How to Configure Your Soulmask Server Settings from the Panel
Learn how to adjust your Soulmask server settings from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise your world and gameplay without editing any files by hand.
Soulmask gives you a wide range of server options to tune, from the world you are playing on to how the game behaves for your tribe. The RiverHosting panel puts all the most important settings in one place so you do not need to edit configuration files or use the command line. This guide walks you through using the Server Config page to get your Soulmask server set up exactly how you want it.
Before you start
- You need an active Soulmask server on your RiverHosting account. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Stop your server before making changes to settings. This avoids conflicts between the running server and the values you are saving.
Always stop your Soulmask server before changing settings. Saving changes while the server is running can cause them to be overwritten or ignored.
1. Open the Server Config page
The Server Config page is where you will find and change the most common Soulmask server options. Here is how to get there:
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Click on your Soulmask server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
You will see a form with the key settings for your server. Each option is labelled clearly so you know what it controls.
The Server Config page writes to the correct configuration files for you. You do not need to open the File Manager or touch any config files directly for these settings.
2. Change your server name and password
The server name is what players see in the server browser. Setting a password restricts who can join.
- On the Server Config page, find the field for the server name and enter the name you want players to see.
- If you want to protect your server with a password, enter one in the password field. Leave this blank if you want the server to be open to anyone.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Share your server password only with players you trust. If you need to change it later, come back to Server Config and update the password field.
3. Adjust player and gameplay settings
Server Config also lets you control key gameplay options so the experience matches what you and your tribe are looking for.
- On the Server Config page, look for options such as the maximum number of players, XP rates, harvest rates, and taming speeds. The exact labels are shown in the panel.
- Raise or lower the values to suit your playstyle. Higher multipliers make progression faster, while lower ones create a harder survival challenge.
- Click Save when you are happy with your choices.
Multipliers like XP rate and harvest rate are numbers that scale the default game values. A value of 1.0 means the game default. A value of 2.0 means twice as fast, and 0.5 means half as fast.
4. Switch or manage your world from the Map page
Soulmask worlds are managed from the Map page in the left-hand menu. If you want to start fresh or change the map your server loads, this is where to go.
- In the left-hand menu, click Map.
- Choose the world or map option you want to use.
- Save your selection before starting the server.
Switching to a new world or wiping your existing world will remove all current player progress on that world. Make a backup first if you want to keep your current save.
5. Back up your world before making big changes
Before changing your map, wiping progress, or making major config adjustments, it is a good idea to create a backup. You can do this from the Backups tab.
- In the left-hand menu, click Backups.
- Click Create Backup and wait for it to complete.
- Once the backup finishes, you can safely make your changes knowing you can restore if something goes wrong.
If you also want to manage your Soulmask world saves or cluster settings, check the Worlds & Backups and Cluster pages in the left-hand menu for those additional options.
Troubleshooting
- Settings do not seem to apply after saving. Make sure you stopped the server before saving, then start it again after saving. Changes made while the server is running may be overwritten.
- Players cannot see the server in the browser. Check the Network page in the left-hand menu to confirm your server's IP address and game port. Share those details with your players directly if needed.
- The server name did not update. Restart the server fully after saving the server name. Some name changes only take effect on a fresh start.
- I changed a rate and the game feels wrong. Return to Server Config and set the value back to 1.0 to restore the default. Restart the server to apply it.
- I lost my world accidentally. Go to Backups and restore the most recent backup. If you do not have a backup, contact RiverHosting support for guidance.
