How to Change the Map on Your Soulmask Server

    2 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to switch your Soulmask server to a different map from the RiverHosting panel so you and your tribe can explore a fresh world without any hassle.

Soulmask lets you and your friends build, survive, and explore across different maps. If you want to try a new environment or simply start fresh on a different map, you can do that directly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files manually.

This guide walks you through changing the map on your Soulmask server step by step.

    Before you start

    • You need access to your server on the RiverHosting panel.
    • Changing the map will load a different world on your server. Your current world progress will not be automatically deleted, but players will no longer be on the previous map once the new one loads.
    • It is a good idea to take a backup of your server before making this change, just in case you want to return to your current world later.
    Back up first

Changing the map switches the active world your server runs on. If you want to keep your current world safe, create a backup from the Backups tab before continuing.

    1. Open your Soulmask server in the panel

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Find your Soulmask server and click on it to open the server page.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Map.

The Map page shows your currently active map and lets you select a different one to use when the server next starts.

    2. Select a new map

    1. On the Map page, you will see the available maps for Soulmask.
    2. Click the map you want to switch to.
    3. Save your selection if prompted.
Not sure which map to pick?

Soulmask's maps each offer a different landscape and set of challenges. If you are playing with a group for the first time, the default map is a solid starting point. Try a different one once you are comfortable with the game.

    3. Restart your server to apply the change

    1. After saving your map selection, go back to the main server page.
    2. Click Restart to reboot the server.
    3. Wait for the server to come back online. This may take a minute or two while the new map loads for the first time.
    First load takes longer

When a map is loaded for the first time, the server needs to generate the world. This can take a little longer than a normal restart, so give it a moment before trying to connect.

    4. Confirm the new map is active

    1. Once the server shows as online, open the Console tab from the left-hand menu.
    2. Check the console output to confirm the server has loaded without errors.
    3. Connect to your server in-game and verify you are on the new map.
    Map changed successfully

If the server started cleanly and you can connect in-game, your Soulmask server is now running on the new map.

    Troubleshooting

    • The server is stuck starting up. Open the Console tab and look for any error messages. A missing or corrupted map file can sometimes cause startup issues. Try restarting the server once more, and if the problem continues, contact support.
    • Players are connecting but spawning in a strange location. This is normal when switching maps for the first time. Players may need to create a new character or respawn to get placed correctly in the new world.
    • I want to go back to my old map. Go to the Map page and select your previous map, then restart the server again. As long as you did not wipe the old world files, your previous progress should still be there.
    • The map option I selected does not seem to have changed. Make sure you saved the selection before restarting. Go back to the Map page to confirm the correct map is shown as active.
