How to Change the Max Player Slot Count on Your Soulmask Server
Learn how to change the maximum number of players on your Soulmask server using the RiverHosting panel so your community always has the right amount of room.
By default, your Soulmask server is set up with a certain number of player slots. If you want to open your server up to a larger group or keep things more private with a smaller cap, you can change the maximum player count quickly from the RiverHosting panel. No file editing is needed.
Before you start
- Make sure you are logged in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Your Soulmask server should be running or stopped. Either way is fine for making this change, but a restart will be required for it to take effect.
- Check your current hosting plan if you are raising the player limit. Your plan may have a maximum number of slots included. If you need more slots than your plan allows, visit the billing portal to upgrade.
If you try to set a player slot count higher than your plan allows, the server may ignore the value or cap it automatically. Upgrade your plan first if you need a higher limit.
1. Open the Server Config page
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Click on your Soulmask server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
The Server Config page is a built-in editor for your Soulmask server settings. You can change common options here without touching any config files directly.
2. Change the maximum player slot count
- On the Server Config page, look for the setting that controls the maximum number of players. It is usually labelled something like Max Players or Player Slots.
- Click on the field and clear the current value.
- Type in the new number of player slots you want.
- Click the Save button to apply your changes.
The new player slot count will not take effect until you restart your server. Make sure to restart after saving.
3. Restart your server to apply the change
- After saving, go back to the main server page by clicking the server name or navigating to the Console tab.
- Click the Restart button at the top of the page.
- Wait for the server to fully start up. You can watch the console output to confirm it has loaded successfully.
Once the server is back online, the new maximum player count will be active. Players joining after this point will be subject to the updated limit.
Your Soulmask server is now running with the updated player slot count. New players will see the correct limit when they try to join.
Troubleshooting
- The change does not seem to have taken effect. Make sure you clicked Save before restarting. Go back to Server Config and confirm the value is correct, then restart again.
- The server is capping players below the number you set. Your hosting plan may limit the total number of slots available. Check your plan details in the billing portal and upgrade if needed.
- Players are still being turned away even with slots available. There may be a password or whitelist in place. Check your Server Config settings for any access restrictions.
- The server crashes after changing the slot count. Setting an extremely high player count can strain server resources. Try a more moderate value and see if stability improves.
