How to Configure Your SCUM Server Settings from the Panel

    4 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to adjust your SCUM server settings directly from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise gameplay, economy, raid times, and more without editing files by hand.

SCUM gives server owners a lot of control over how the game plays, from economy values and raid windows to admin permissions and in-game notifications. The RiverHosting panel puts all of these controls in one place so you can make changes quickly without touching any config files directly.

This guide walks you through every dedicated settings page available for your SCUM server on the RiverHosting panel.

    Before you start

    • Make sure your SCUM server is set up and showing in your RiverHosting panel.
    • You will need to restart your server after saving most setting changes for them to take effect.
    • It is a good idea to take a backup before making large configuration changes. You can do this from the Backups tab.
    Save before restarting

Always click the save button on a settings page before restarting your server. Restarting without saving will discard your changes.

    1. How to change your core server settings with Server Config

The Server Config page is where you control the most important gameplay and server behaviour settings for SCUM.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your SCUM server.
    2. Click Server Config in the left-hand menu.
    3. Adjust the settings you want to change. Common options include server name, max players, time of day settings, loot respawn rates, and XP multipliers.
    4. Click the save button when you are done.
    5. Restart your server from the Console page so the changes load properly.
    Setting names

The exact options shown on the Server Config page match the official SCUM server settings. If you are unsure what a setting does, the SCUM community wiki is a useful reference for understanding each value.

    2. How to manage server admins with the Admins page

The Admins page lets you grant admin access to trusted players on your SCUM server. Admins can use in-game commands to manage players, teleport, spawn items, and more.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Click Admins in the left-hand menu.
    3. Enter the Steam ID of the player you want to give admin access to.
    4. Save your changes.
    5. Restart the server for the admin list to update.
    Admin access

Only grant admin permissions to players you fully trust. Admins have significant in-game power and can affect the experience for all players on your server.

    3. How to configure the in-game economy with the Economy page

SCUM has a built-in trader economy system. The Economy page in the panel lets you adjust how that economy behaves on your server.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the panel.
    2. Click Economy in the left-hand menu.
    3. Review and adjust the economy values to suit your server style. You can control things like trader stock levels and currency settings.
    4. Save your changes and restart the server.

    4. How to set raid times with the Raid Times page

Raid Times let you define specific windows when base raiding is allowed on your server. This is useful if you want to keep raiding fair and limit it to certain hours of the day.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the panel.
    2. Click Raid Times in the left-hand menu.
    3. Set the days and times when raiding should be permitted.
    4. Save your changes and restart the server.
    Time zones

Raid times are typically set in UTC. Let your players know what time zone your raid windows use so there is no confusion about when raiding is active.

    5. How to install and manage mods with the Mods page

If you want to extend your SCUM server with community mods, the Mods page makes it straightforward to add and manage them.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the panel.
    2. Click Mods in the left-hand menu.
    3. Browse or search for the mods you want to add.
    4. Install your chosen mods and save.
    5. Restart the server for the mods to load.
    Mod compatibility

Some mods may conflict with each other or with certain server settings. If your server fails to start after adding a mod, try removing the most recently added one first and check the Console for error messages.

    6. How to set up server notifications with the Notifications page

The Notifications page lets you configure automated in-game messages that broadcast to all players. These are useful for welcome messages, rule reminders, or scheduled announcements.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the panel.
    2. Click Notifications in the left-hand menu.
    3. Add your notification messages and set how often they should appear.
    4. Save your changes. Notifications usually take effect without a full server restart, but a restart ensures everything loads cleanly.

    7. How to manage worlds and saves with the Worlds and Backups page

The Worlds and Backups page is where you manage your SCUM server world and its save data. You can download saves, restore from a previous state, or clear the world if you want a fresh start.

    1. Open your SCUM server in the panel.
    2. Click Worlds & Backups in the left-hand menu.
    3. From here you can download a copy of your current world save, restore an earlier save, or wipe the world data.
    Wiping world data

Wiping your world is permanent and cannot be undone. Always download a copy of your save before clearing any world data.

    Troubleshooting

    • Changes are not taking effect: Make sure you clicked the save button on the settings page before restarting. If the problem continues, check the Console tab for any error messages after the restart.
    • Server will not start after a config change: A typo or invalid value in Server Config can prevent the server from starting. Review the Console output for clues, and compare your values against the defaults if needed.
    • Raid times are not working as expected: Double-check that your times are set in the correct format and that you accounted for the UTC offset. Restart the server after saving changes.
    • A mod is causing issues: Disable the most recently added mod from the Mods page and restart the server to see if that resolves the problem.
    • Admins are not showing in-game: Confirm the Steam ID entered on the Admins page is correct. Steam IDs must be in the right format (usually a 17-digit SteamID64) to be recognised by the server.
