How to Add and Manage Admins on Your SCUM Server

    3 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to add and manage admins on your SCUM server using the RiverHosting panel so you can keep your server running smoothly with trusted players in control.

Running a SCUM server is a lot easier when you have trusted admins helping you out. Admins can kick or ban rule-breakers, manage the economy, and keep things running while you are offline. The RiverHosting panel makes it straightforward to add admins and remove them whenever you need to.

    Before you start

    • You need an active SCUM server on RiverHosting. Log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com to get started.
    • You will need the Steam 64 ID of each player you want to make an admin. This is a long number that uniquely identifies a Steam account. The player can find their own Steam 64 ID at a site like steamidfinder.com.
    • Restart your server after making changes so they take effect.
    What can admins do?

SCUM admins can use in-game admin commands to teleport players, manage inventory, kick and ban users, spawn items, and more. Make sure you only grant admin access to people you genuinely trust.

    1. How to open the Admins page

The RiverHosting panel has a dedicated Admins page for SCUM servers so you never need to edit config files by hand.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    2. Click on your SCUM server from the server list.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Admins.

The Admins page shows you all currently configured admins on your server.

    2. How to add a new admin

    1. On the Admins page, look for the option to add a new admin entry.
    2. Enter the Steam 64 ID of the player you want to make an admin. This is the long numeric ID, not the player's display name or username.
    3. Save your changes using the button on the page.
    Double-check the Steam 64 ID

Steam 64 IDs are long and easy to mistype. Ask the player to copy and paste their ID directly to you rather than typing it out. A wrong ID will not grant admin access and may silently fail.

    1. Once saved, go back to the left-hand menu and click Console.
    2. Use the restart button to restart your server so the new admin list is loaded.
    Admin added

Once the server has restarted, the player can log in and use admin commands in-game. They may need to activate admin mode inside the game using the SCUM admin panel or the relevant in-game command.

    3. How to remove an admin

Removing an admin is just as simple as adding one.

    1. Go to the left-hand menu and click Admins.
    2. Find the Steam 64 ID of the admin you want to remove.
    3. Delete or remove that entry from the list.
    4. Save your changes.
    5. Restart your server so the change takes effect.
    Restart required

Changes to the admin list do not take effect until the server is restarted. Players who had admin access will keep it in-game until the restart happens.

    4. How to use the RCON console for admin commands

If you need to send admin commands to your server directly from the panel without joining the game, SCUM servers on RiverHosting also have access to a console you can use.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Console.
    2. Type your admin command into the input box at the bottom and press Enter.

The Console is useful for quick actions like kicking a player or checking server status without needing to log in to the game itself.

    In-game admin menu

SCUM also has a built-in admin menu that admins can access from inside the game once their Steam 64 ID is on the admin list. The panel Console and the in-game menu work alongside each other.

    Troubleshooting

    • Admin commands are not working in-game. Make sure the Steam 64 ID was entered correctly and that the server was restarted after saving. Try removing and re-adding the ID if the issue continues.
    • The player cannot find their Steam 64 ID. Ask them to visit steamidfinder.com and search for their Steam profile URL or username. The Steam 64 ID is the long number starting with 7656.
    • Changes do not seem to save. Make sure you click the save button on the Admins page before restarting. Navigating away without saving will discard your changes.
    • The server is not restarting. Go to the Console tab and use the restart button from there. If the server appears stuck, use the force-stop option and then start it again.
