How to Rename Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server
Learn how to change your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server name from the RiverHosting panel so players can find and recognise your server straight away.
Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server name is one of the first things players see when they look for a server to join. Giving it a clear, recognisable name makes it much easier for your friends to find it and helps set the tone for your world. The good news is that you can change it in a couple of minutes from the RiverHosting panel without touching any files.
Before you start
- You need an active RuneScape: Dragonwilds server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Make sure you have owner or admin access to the server. Subusers with limited permissions may not be able to save config changes.
- You will need to restart your server after saving the new name for it to take effect in-game.
Keep your server name short and descriptive. Long names can be cut off in server lists, so aim for something punchy that fits comfortably on one line.
1. How to change your server name from the Server Config page
The easiest way to rename your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server is through the built-in Server Config page in the panel. This page gives you a simple form-based editor so you never have to open a configuration file directly.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Click on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- Look for the server name field. It is usually labelled something like Server Name or World Name.
- Clear the existing name and type your new server name.
- Click Save or the equivalent save button at the bottom of the page.
- Go back to the main server page and click Restart so the new name loads properly.
Once the server has finished restarting, your new name will appear in the server browser and on the connection screen for anyone trying to join.
2. How to verify the new name is showing correctly
After the restart, it is worth checking that the name updated as expected before you share the server with your players.
- In the left-hand menu, click Console.
- Watch the startup log as the server loads. You should see your new server name appear in the startup output, confirming it has been picked up correctly.
- Alternatively, try joining the server yourself from within RuneScape: Dragonwilds and check the name shown on the connection screen or server browser.
If you still see the old name after restarting, double-check that you clicked Save before restarting. If you navigated away from the Server Config page without saving, the change will not have been stored. Repeat the steps above and make sure to save first.
Troubleshooting
- The Server Config page does not show a name field. Try refreshing the page. If the field is still missing, check that your server is running the correct RuneScape: Dragonwilds server build. Contact support if the page looks different from what is described here.
- The name changed in the panel but not in-game. Make sure you restarted the server after saving. A full restart is required for config changes to apply.
- The name is being cut off in the server list. Some server browsers have a character limit for display purposes. Try shortening your server name to under 30 characters and restart again.
- I saved the name but the panel shows the old one after I reload. This can happen if your browser cached the page. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) and check the Server Config page again.
- I do not have access to the Server Config page. Only the server owner and subusers with the correct permissions can access this page. Ask the server owner to update your permissions or make the change on your behalf.
