How to Configure Your Worlds on Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server
Learn how to manage and configure worlds on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server from the RiverHosting panel so you can keep your game running exactly the way you want.
Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server lets you and your friends explore and survive together in a persistent world. From the RiverHosting panel, you can view and manage your server's world settings without touching any files manually. This guide walks you through everything you need to know about the Worlds page on your server.
Before you start
- Make sure you have an active RuneScape: Dragonwilds server with RiverHosting.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Open your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server from the server list.
- It is a good idea to stop your server before making world changes to avoid any data issues.
Always stop your server before switching or resetting a world. Making changes while the server is running can cause world data to be lost or corrupted.
1. How to access the Worlds page
The Worlds page is where you can view and manage the world your server is currently running. Here is how to find it:
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Click on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server to open its management page.
- In the left-hand menu, click Worlds.
You will now see the world management area for your server. This page gives you an overview of the world your server is currently using.
2. How to review and manage your current world
Once you are on the Worlds page, you can review the world that is active on your server. Here is what you can do:
- Check the name and details of the world currently loaded on your server.
- If you want to start fresh with a new world, look for the option to reset or create a new world on the page. Confirm the action when prompted.
- If you have a world file you want to upload, you can use the File Manager in the left-hand menu to upload it to the correct folder. The Worlds page will then reflect the new world once you restart the server.
If you reset or replace your current world, all existing progress in that world will be permanently lost. Make a backup first if you want to keep your current world data.
3. How to back up your world before making changes
Before you reset or replace a world, it is strongly recommended to create a backup. Here is how:
- Stop your server using the Stop button on the main server page.
- In the left-hand menu, click Backups.
- Click Create Backup and wait for it to complete.
- Once the backup is finished, you can safely go to the Worlds page and make your changes.
Creating a backup before any major world change means you can always restore your server to a working state if something goes wrong.
4. How to use the Server Config page alongside your world settings
Some world-related options, such as the world name your server uses or other launch settings, may be controlled from the Server Config page rather than the Worlds page. Here is how to check:
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- Review the available settings. Look for anything related to the world name, world path, or world seed.
- Update the value you want to change.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
- Restart your server so the new settings take effect.
The Worlds page manages your world files, while the Server Config page controls how your server loads and references those worlds. If a change on one page does not seem to take effect, check the other page too.
Troubleshooting
- My world is not loading after a change. Make sure you saved your settings and fully restarted the server. A stop followed by a fresh start is more reliable than using the restart button after config changes.
- The server starts but players cannot connect. Check the Network page in the left-hand menu to confirm the correct IP address and port. Share those details with your players.
- My world seems to have reset on its own. This can happen if the server config is pointing to a different world name than the file that exists. Open Server Config and check that the world name matches the file shown on the Worlds page.
- I want to go back to a previous world. If you created a backup before making changes, go to Backups and restore from that backup. Then restart your server.
- I do not see the Worlds page in the menu. Make sure you are looking at a RuneScape: Dragonwilds server. The Worlds page is specific to this game and will not appear on other server types.
