How to Configure Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Settings from the Panel

    3 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to adjust your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server settings directly from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise your world without editing any files by hand.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds lets you and your friends explore a dangerous open world together, and your server settings control how that experience feels. From the RiverHosting panel you can adjust your server configuration without touching any files manually. This guide walks you through everything you need to know.

    Before you start

    • Make sure you have an active RuneScape: Dragonwilds server with RiverHosting. If you need one, visit riverhosting.com.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • Some settings only take effect after a full server restart, so plan to restart your server after making changes.
    • If players are currently on your server, let them know you are about to restart before you apply changes.
    Save your world first

Before changing any server settings, it is a good idea to create a backup from the Backups tab. That way you can restore your world if something does not go as expected.

    1. Open the Server Config page

The Server Config page is where you control the main settings for your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server. It gives you a clean editor so you never need to edit configuration files directly.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Click on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server from the server list.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    4. The page will load your current server configuration settings.
Not sure what a setting does?

Read through all the options before changing anything. Each field is labelled clearly, and most have a short description to help you understand what it controls.

    2. Adjust your server settings

Inside the Server Config page you will find the key options that shape how your server runs. Here is a breakdown of the most common settings you may want to adjust:

    • Server Name: This is the name that appears in the server browser. Choose something your players will recognise.
    • Max Players: Sets the maximum number of players allowed on the server at the same time.
    • Password: If you want a private server, set a password here. Players will need to enter it before joining. Leave it blank for an open server.
    • Admin Password: A separate password used to grant admin access in game. Keep this private and share it only with trusted players.
    Keep your admin password safe

Your admin password gives in-game admin powers to anyone who uses it. Do not share it publicly or use an easy-to-guess value.

Once you have made your changes, scroll to the bottom of the Server Config page and click Save to apply them.

    3. Manage your world from the Worlds page

In addition to Server Config, your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server has a dedicated Worlds page. This is where you can manage the active world your server uses.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Worlds.
    2. Here you can see the world currently loaded on your server.
    3. If you want to start fresh, you can reset or replace the world from this page.
    Resetting your world is permanent

If you reset or replace your world, your existing progress will be lost unless you have a backup. Always create a backup from the Backups tab before resetting a world.

    4. Restart your server to apply changes

Most settings in Server Config do not apply until your server restarts. Follow these steps to restart cleanly after saving your changes:

    1. Go back to your server's main page by clicking the server name at the top of the left-hand menu.
    2. Click the Restart button.
    3. Wait for the server to fully start up. You can watch the progress in the Console tab.
    4. Once the server is back online, join and check that your new settings are active.
    Changes applied

Once your server has restarted and you can connect, your new configuration is live. Check the Console tab if anything looks unexpected during startup.

    Troubleshooting

    • Settings do not seem to have changed: Make sure you clicked Save on the Server Config page before restarting. If you navigated away without saving, your changes were not kept.
    • Server is not starting after a config change: Open the Console tab and look for any error messages at startup. A typo or unsupported value in a field can sometimes prevent the server from launching. Revert the change and try again.
    • Players cannot connect after changing the password: Make sure all players are using the updated password. The password field is case-sensitive.
    • World page is not loading: Try refreshing the panel page. If the issue continues, restart the server from the main server page and then check again.
    • Changes keep reverting: Some values may be overwritten by the startup command or another configuration file. Check the Startup tab for any conflicting launch parameters, or contact support for help.
