How to Connect to Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server
Learn how to find your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server address in the RiverHosting panel and connect your friends so you can start playing together right away.
Once your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server is running on RiverHosting, the next step is finding your connection details and getting your friends into the game. This guide walks you through exactly where to find your server address in the panel and how to use it to connect.
Before you start
- Make sure your server is installed and running. You should see a green status indicator on your server page at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Make sure you and any friends who want to join have RuneScape: Dragonwilds installed.
- You do not need any technical knowledge to follow these steps.
Your server must be in a running state before players can connect. If it shows as stopped or installing, wait for it to finish starting up before trying to join.
1. Find your server address on the Network page
Your server's connection details live on the Network page in the RiverHosting panel. Here is how to find them:
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Click on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click Network.
- You will see your server's IP address and game port listed here. These are the details your players need to connect.
The game port is the number that goes after your IP address when connecting. It tells the game exactly which server to reach on that IP. Your Network page shows this for you so you do not have to figure it out manually.
2. Connect to your server in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Once you have your IP address and port from the Network page, follow these steps to join your server:
- Open RuneScape: Dragonwilds on your computer.
- From the main menu, look for the option to join a server or connect via a direct address.
- Enter the IP address and port shown on your Network page. The format is typically
your.ip.address:port. - Click connect and wait for the server to load you in.
Your connection address will look something like this: 123.45.67.89:25565. The exact IP and port shown on your Network page will be different, but the format is the same.
3. Share your server address with friends
To invite friends to your server, just share the IP address and port from your Network page with them. They follow the same steps above to connect.
If you want to make the address easier to remember and share, you can set up a custom subdomain using the Subdomain Manager in the panel. Instead of sharing a raw IP and port, your players can connect using an address like adventure.playriver.net.
- In the left-hand menu, click Subdomain Manager.
- Choose a subdomain name and select one of the available base domains:
playriver.net,playminecraft.pro, orplayriver.xyz. - Save your subdomain. Share the resulting address with your friends instead of the raw IP.
A custom subdomain is much easier to share and remember than a raw IP address and port number. You can set one up in just a few clicks using the Subdomain Manager.
4. Check your server settings if players cannot connect
If you or a friend cannot connect to the server, a quick check of your server settings can often solve the problem. RuneScape: Dragonwilds has a dedicated Server Config page in the panel where you can review key settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- Check that the server is set to allow connections and that any password or access setting matches what your players are using.
- Save any changes you make, then restart the server from the top of your server page for them to take effect.
Troubleshooting
- Server shows as offline in the game: Check that your server is running in the RiverHosting panel. If it shows as stopped, click Start and wait a minute before trying again.
- Connection timed out: Double-check the IP address and port from your Network page. Make sure you are entering them exactly as shown, including the correct port number.
- Players can connect but the world will not load: Check the Console tab in your panel for any error messages. This can sometimes point to a configuration issue or a world that needs to be set up first.
- Custom subdomain is not working: Subdomain changes can take a few minutes to apply. If it has been more than ten minutes, visit the Subdomain Manager to confirm the subdomain was saved correctly.
- Password prompt appears unexpectedly: If you set a password in Server Config, players will need that password to join. Share it with your friends or remove it from Server Config if you want an open server.
