How to Change the Max Player Slot Count on Your Enshrouded Server

Enshrouded supports cooperative survival for small groups, and by default your server may be set to allow a certain number of players at once. If you want to open things up for a larger group or restrict access to just a couple of friends, you can change the maximum player slot count directly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files by hand.

This guide walks you through the process step by step.

Before you start

• You need an active Enshrouded server with RiverHosting.
• Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com before you begin.
• Changing the player slot count requires a server restart to take effect, so let any active players know before you make changes.
• Enshrouded currently supports up to 16 players on a dedicated server. Setting a value higher than what the game supports will not add extra slots.

1. Open the Server Config page

1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
2. Click on your Enshrouded server from your server list.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.

The Server Config page is a built-in editor for your Enshrouded server settings. It lets you change common options from the panel instead of editing the configuration file manually.

2. Change the maximum player count

1. On the Server Config page, look for the player slots or maximum players setting.
2. Update the value to the number of players you want to allow on your server at one time.
3. Once you have set the value you want, click the Save button to apply your changes.

3. Restart your server to apply the change

1. After saving, go back to your server's main page by clicking your server name or the home icon in the left-hand menu.
2. Click the Restart button at the top of the page.
3. Wait for the server to fully start up again. You can watch the Console tab to see when it is ready.

Once the server has restarted, the new player slot limit will be active. Players can now join up to the new maximum you set.

Troubleshooting

• The setting does not seem to have changed after saving. Make sure you restarted the server after saving. Changes to server config do not take effect until the server restarts.
• Players still cannot join even though slots are available. Check the Network page to confirm your server is online and using the correct port. Also check whether a password is set that players may not have.
• The server is running slowly with more players. More players place more load on the server. If you notice lag with a larger group, consider upgrading your server plan from the billing portal.
• You cannot find the Server Config page. Make sure you are viewing your Enshrouded server specifically. The Server Config page is in the left-hand menu when you are inside your server's management area.
• The maximum players setting is not saving. Try refreshing the page and saving again. If the issue continues, reach out to RiverHosting support.
