How to Change the Difficulty on Your Enshrouded Server

Enshrouded lets you tailor the survival experience to your group, whether you want a relaxed adventure or a brutal fight for survival. You can adjust the difficulty from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files manually. This article walks you through how to do it in just a few steps.

Before you start

• You need an active Enshrouded server with RiverHosting.
• Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
• Your server must be stopped before saving difficulty changes so they apply correctly when it starts back up.

1. Open the Server Config page

1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
2. Select your Enshrouded server from the server list.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.

The Server Config page is the built-in editor for your Enshrouded server settings. It lets you change common options from the panel instead of editing configuration files by hand.

2. Change the difficulty setting

1. On the Server Config page, look for the difficulty option. It may be labelled Difficulty or appear as a dropdown or selection field within the gameplay settings area.
2. Select the difficulty level you want. Enshrouded typically offers preset options ranging from a more relaxed experience to a much harder survival challenge.
3. Once you have made your selection, click Save to apply the change.

3. Restart your server to apply the changes

1. After saving, go back to your server's main page.
2. Click Start if your server is stopped, or Restart if it is already running.
3. Wait for the server to finish starting up. You can watch the Console in the left-hand menu to see when it is ready.
4. Join your server and confirm that the new difficulty is in effect.

Troubleshooting

• The difficulty did not change after restarting. Make sure you clicked Save on the Server Config page before restarting. If you navigated away without saving, the change will not have been applied.
• The setting reverted to the old value. This can happen if the server was running while you saved. Stop the server first, make your change, save, and then start the server again.
• I cannot find the difficulty option on the Server Config page. Scroll through the full page as options are sometimes grouped into sections. If you still cannot find it, check whether your server is on the latest version of Enshrouded, as older builds may have fewer exposed settings.
• The server will not start after the change. Try reverting the difficulty to its previous value on the Server Config page, saving, and starting the server again. If the problem continues, contact support.
