How to Configure Your Enshrouded Server Settings from the Panel
Learn how to change your Enshrouded server settings from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise gameplay, player limits, and more without editing any files.
Enshrouded gives you a lot of control over how your server runs, from the number of players who can join to how the world itself behaves. The RiverHosting panel includes a built-in Server Config page that lets you change the most important settings without touching any files directly.
This guide walks you through finding and using the Server Config page, adjusting common settings, and applying your changes correctly.
Before you start
- Make sure your Enshrouded server is set up and showing in the RiverHosting panel.
- You will need owner or admin access to the server in the panel to change settings.
- Most setting changes require a server restart to take effect, so let your players know before applying changes.
Most changes you make on the Server Config page will not apply until you restart your server. Always restart after saving your settings.
1. How to open the Server Config page
The Server Config page is the easiest way to change your Enshrouded server settings. Here is how to get there:
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Click on your Enshrouded server from the server list.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
You will see a form with all the main server settings laid out clearly. You do not need to open or edit any configuration files by hand.
The Server Config page handles all the common settings for you. Only use the File Manager for advanced changes that are not available on this page.
2. How to change your server name and password
Your server name is what players see when they search for your server or share the address with friends. You can also add a password to keep the server private.
- On the Server Config page, find the Server Name field.
- Type the name you want your server to display.
- If you want to protect your server with a password, find the Server Password field and enter your chosen password.
- Leave the password field empty if you want the server to be open to everyone.
- Click Save when you are done.
Choose a server name that is easy for your friends to recognise so they can find your server quickly.
3. How to change the maximum player count
Enshrouded supports up to a certain number of players depending on your server plan. You can set the limit lower if you want a smaller, more private experience.
- On the Server Config page, find the Max Players setting.
- Enter the number of players you want to allow at the same time.
- Click Save.
- Restart your server for the change to take effect.
You cannot set the player count higher than what your hosting plan supports. If you need more player slots, you can upgrade your plan from the billing portal.
4. How to manage user groups and permissions
Enshrouded lets you define different levels of access for players on your server. The RiverHosting panel has a dedicated User Groups page for this.
- In the left-hand menu, click User Groups.
- Here you can create and manage groups with different permission levels, such as admin, friend, or guest.
- Assign players to the appropriate group based on the level of access you want them to have.
- Save your changes and restart the server to apply them.
User groups let you give trusted players more control over the server, such as the ability to kick or ban others, while keeping general players limited to normal gameplay actions.
5. How to manage your Enshrouded worlds
Your server's world data is managed from the Worlds page in the panel. This is where you can view your active world and make changes related to your world save.
- In the left-hand menu, click Worlds.
- You will see your current world listed here.
- Use the options available to manage or reset your world if needed.
Resetting or deleting a world removes all progress. Always create a backup from the Backups page before making any changes to your world.
6. How to save and apply your changes
After making any changes on the Server Config page, you need to save and restart the server for them to take effect.
- Click Save at the bottom of the Server Config page after making your changes.
- Go back to the main server page.
- Click Restart to restart your server.
- Wait for the server to come back online before asking players to rejoin.
Once your server has restarted, all your new settings will be active. Players can rejoin and enjoy the updated configuration.
Troubleshooting
- Settings are not taking effect: Make sure you clicked Save before restarting. If the issue continues, try a full stop and start rather than just a restart.
- Players cannot join after a password change: Share the new password with your players. The old password will no longer work once you save and restart.
- Server name is not updating: Some changes take a few minutes to appear in server browsers. Wait a short while and ask players to refresh their server list.
- User group changes are not working: Make sure you saved your User Groups settings and restarted the server. Players may also need to reconnect for group changes to apply to them.
- Server is not starting after a config change: Check the Console tab for any error messages. If a setting value is invalid, the console will usually show what went wrong.
