How to Add and Manage Admins on Your V Rising Server

    3 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to add and manage admins on your V Rising server using the RiverHosting panel so trusted players can help keep your game running smoothly.

If you want to give a trusted friend or fellow player the ability to manage your V Rising server, you can do that directly from the RiverHosting panel. Admins can use in-game commands, kick or ban players, and keep things running while you are away. This guide walks you through how to add admins, remove them, and manage bans from the panel.

    Before you start

    • You need an active V Rising server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • Select your V Rising server from your server list.
    • You will need the Steam name or player identifier for the person you want to make an admin. It helps to have them handy before you start.
    Ask them to join first

It is easier to add a player as admin if they have connected to your server at least once. Their details will already be associated with your server.

    1. How to open the Admins and Bans page

The RiverHosting panel has a dedicated page for managing admins and bans on your V Rising server. You do not need to edit any files by hand.

    1. Log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    2. Click on your V Rising server to open its management page.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Admins & Bans.

This page is split into two sections: one for managing admins and one for managing bans. Both are covered below.

    2. How to add an admin to your V Rising server

Once you are on the Admins & Bans page, adding an admin takes just a few steps.

    1. Find the Admins section at the top of the page.
    2. Enter the Steam name or player identifier for the person you want to promote.
    3. Click the button to add them as an admin.
    4. Restart your server so the change takes effect. You can do this by clicking Restart at the top of your server page.
    Admin permissions in V Rising

Admins in V Rising can use console commands in-game, such as teleporting, managing players, and changing game settings on the fly. Only give admin access to players you fully trust.

    3. How to remove an admin from your V Rising server

If you need to remove someone's admin access, you can do that from the same page.

    1. Go to Admins & Bans in the left-hand menu.
    2. Find the player in the Admins list.
    3. Click the remove or delete button next to their name.
    4. Restart your server to apply the change.
    Restart required

Admin changes do not take effect until the server is restarted. Players currently in the game with admin access will keep it until the next restart.

    4. How to ban a player from your V Rising server

If a player is causing problems, you can ban them directly from the panel without needing to use in-game commands.

    1. Go to Admins & Bans in the left-hand menu.
    2. Scroll down to the Bans section.
    3. Enter the player's Steam name or identifier.
    4. Click the button to add the ban.
    5. Restart your server to make the ban active.

Banned players will not be able to connect to your server the next time they try to join.

    5. How to unban a player from your V Rising server

If you want to lift a ban, you can do that from the same Bans section.

    1. Go to Admins & Bans in the left-hand menu.
    2. Find the player in the Bans list.
    3. Click the remove or delete button next to their name.
    4. Restart your server so the unban takes effect.
    Ban lifted

Once the server has restarted after you remove the ban, that player will be able to connect again as normal.

    Troubleshooting

    • Admin commands are not working in-game. Make sure you restarted the server after adding the admin. The change is not applied until after a restart.
    • The player does not appear in the admin list after being added. Double-check that the Steam name or identifier was entered correctly. Even a small typo will prevent it from working.
    • A banned player can still connect. This usually means the server has not been restarted since the ban was added. Restart the server from the top of the server page.
    • You cannot find the Admins and Bans page. Make sure you are viewing your V Rising server and not a different game server. The page only appears in the left-hand menu for V Rising servers.
    • Changes keep reverting after a restart. This can happen if a file was edited manually at the same time as changes were made in the panel. Use only the panel to manage admins and bans to avoid conflicts.
