How to Rename Your Satisfactory Server

Your Satisfactory server name is what appears in the in-game server browser, so giving it a clear and recognisable name makes it much easier for your friends to find and join your session. You can change it directly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files by hand.

Before you start

• Make sure you have an active Satisfactory server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
• Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
• Your server should be stopped or restarted after making the change so it takes effect. The steps below will remind you when to do this.

1. How to change your Satisfactory server name from the Startup tab

The server name for a Satisfactory server is set as a startup parameter, so you change it from the Startup tab in the panel.

1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your Satisfactory server.
2. Click Startup in the left-hand menu.
3. Look for the field labelled Server Name (sometimes shown as the server query name or session name parameter). This is the name that will be displayed in the server browser.
4. Clear the existing value and type your new server name.
5. The change is saved automatically once you move away from the field or press Enter. No separate save button is needed.
6. Go back to the main server page and click Restart so the new name is picked up when the server starts.

2. How to confirm the new name is working

Once the server has restarted, you can check that the name change worked correctly.

1. Open the Console tab in the left-hand menu.
2. Wait for the server to finish starting up. You will see startup messages scroll through the console log.
3. Launch Satisfactory on your computer and open the server browser or join by IP.
4. Your server should now appear under its new name in the browser. If you are joining by IP directly, ask a friend to check the browser to confirm the name is showing correctly.

Troubleshooting

• The name did not change after restart. Go back to the Startup tab and check the server name field again. Make sure you typed the new name into the correct field and that it saved before you restarted.
• The server name contains special characters and is not showing correctly. Try removing any special characters such as brackets, slashes, or emoji. Plain letters, numbers, and spaces are the most reliable.
• The server is not appearing in the browser at all. This is usually a connection issue rather than a naming issue. Open the Network page in the panel to check your server's IP address and port, and make sure you are searching in the correct region in game.
• The Startup tab does not show a Server Name field. This can happen if the server is in an unexpected state. Try stopping the server fully, waiting a few seconds, then starting it again before returning to the Startup tab.
