How to Claim Your Satisfactory Server in the In-Game Server Manager

4 min read·Updated Nov 3, 2026

Learn how to find your server address in the RiverHosting panel and claim it in Satisfactory's Server Manager, so you can name it, set an admin password and start your first world.

A brand new Satisfactory server is "unclaimed" until you add it in the game and set it up yourself. The server name, admin password, join password and your first world are all handled inside Satisfactory's Server Manager, not in the RiverHosting panel. This guide walks you through the whole process from start to finish.

Before you start

  • You need Satisfactory installed on your PC. Dedicated servers are PC only.
  • You need access to your server in the RiverHosting panel at https://panel.riverhosting.com.
  • Decide on an administrator password before you begin. This password only exists inside the game, so keep it somewhere safe.
  • Be patient on the first start. Satisfactory has a large install, so the server can take a while to come online.
Where settings live

The panel does not have a server name, admin password or join password setting for Satisfactory. These are all set in the in-game Server Manager.

1. How to start the server and copy its address

  1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your Satisfactory server.
  2. Click Console in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click Start and wait until the status badge at the top of the page shows ONLINE.
  4. Look at the IP chip in the server header. It shows the address in the form ip:port.
  5. Click the IP chip to copy the full address.
Include the port

You must use the full address with the port, not only the IP. Without the port, the server will not show up in the game.

The Console page is mostly there to show you the server starting up. Satisfactory's server ignores typed console commands, because it is administered from the in-game Server Manager.

Prefer the setup guide?

The quick setup wizard walks through the same claim steps. If you closed it, reopen it any time from the Finish quick setup or Open setup guide chip in the server header.

2. How to claim the server in Satisfactory

  1. Open Satisfactory on your PC.
  2. On the main menu, click Server Manager.
  3. Choose the option to add a server.
  4. Paste the address you copied from the IP chip, including the port.
  5. Confirm. The server appears in your list as unclaimed.
  6. Select the server and choose to claim it.
  7. Enter a server name. This is the name players will see in the list.
  8. Set your administrator password and confirm it.

The administrator password controls who can load saves, change server options and create new games. Anyone who knows it can act as an admin, so only share it with people you trust.

Keep your admin password safe

This password only exists in the game. The panel cannot show it or reset it for you. Write it down before you continue.

3. How to create your first world

  1. Stay on the same Server Manager screen after claiming the server.
  2. Choose to create a new game.
  3. Pick your starting options. The Game Modes menu (cost multipliers and world randomization) only appears when you create a new game, so decide on those now.
  4. Start the game and wait for the world to load.

If you want players to need a password to join, you can set an optional player password in the Server Manager's server settings. It is off by default, and it is also set in the game, not in the panel. The panel will not show a password chip next to the IP for Satisfactory.

Your server is ready

Once your world loads, you and your friends can join from the Server Manager using the same address with the port.

4. How to confirm your save was written

  1. Go back to the RiverHosting panel.
  2. Click Saves in the left-hand menu under GAME.
  3. Look for your world in the list. Saves are grouped by world, and the newest one is tagged latest save.

Satisfactory only writes its first save after the server has started and you have claimed it in the Server Manager. If the list is empty, finish the claim steps first.

The panel cannot choose which save loads. That is always chosen in the in-game Server Manager.

Protect your new world

After your first save appears, open Backups and click Create Backup so you have a safe copy before you start building.

5. Optional: share an easier address with friends

You can create a subdomain in the Subdomain page under GAME. Satisfactory players still need to type the port after the name, for example survival.playriver.net:port, so the subdomain does not remove the need for the port. The IP chip is usually the quickest way to share the address.

Troubleshooting

  • The server does not appear in Server Manager: Check that the status badge shows ONLINE and that you pasted the exact address from the IP chip, including the port.
  • The first start is very slow: This is normal because of the large install. Watch the live console on the Console page and give it a few minutes.
  • The server looks claimed already: Someone may have claimed it first. If you did not do it, contact support so we can help.
  • The Saves page is empty: Make sure the server is running and that you have claimed it and created a new game in Server Manager.
  • You need to change the player limit: Use the Max Players setting on the Server Config page, then restart the server.
  • The address changed after moving the server: Moving to a new location gives the server a new IP, so copy the IP chip again and re-add it in Server Manager.
