How to Manage Worlds and Saves on Your Palworld Server

    4 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to manage your Palworld server worlds and saves from the RiverHosting panel so you can keep your progress safe and switch between saves with confidence.

Your Palworld server stores your world progress, your Pals, your base, and everything your players have built in its save files. Knowing how to manage those saves from the RiverHosting panel means you can protect your progress, recover from a bad session, and keep things running smoothly without touching any files manually.

    Before you start

    • You need an active Palworld server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com and open your Palworld server.
    • Stop your server before making changes to your save files. Editing or replacing saves while the server is running can cause data loss or corruption.
    Stop your server first

Always stop your Palworld server before working with save files. Changes made while the server is running may not be saved correctly or could cause your world to become corrupted.

    1. How to find your worlds and saves in the panel

The RiverHosting panel gives you a dedicated page for managing your Palworld worlds and save data.

    1. Log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    2. Select your Palworld server from your server list.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Worlds & Saves.
    4. You will see your current world and any save data associated with your server listed on this page.
    Check here regularly

Visiting the Worlds & Saves page regularly is a good habit. It lets you confirm your world is being saved correctly and gives you a clear view of what data is stored on your server.

    2. How to download your save files

Downloading a copy of your save is the safest way to protect your progress before making big changes. You can keep a local copy on your own computer as an extra layer of protection alongside the panel's built-in backup tools.

    1. Stop your server from the main server page.
    2. Go to Worlds & Saves in the left-hand menu.
    3. Locate your current save and use the download option to save a copy to your computer.
    Use backups too

The Backups tab in the panel lets you create a full server backup at any time. This is the recommended way to protect everything at once, including your config files and world data together.

    3. How to upload or replace a save file

If you have a save file from a previous session, a local backup, or a save you want to restore, you can upload it using the File Manager.

    1. Stop your server.
    2. Click Files in the left-hand menu to open the File Manager.
    3. Navigate to the folder where Palworld stores its save data. This is typically inside a path like Pal/Saved/SaveGames within your server files.
    4. Upload your save file or folder by dragging it into the File Manager, or by using the upload button.
    5. If you are replacing an existing save, confirm that the file names match before overwriting.
    6. Start your server once the upload is complete.
    Replacing saves is permanent

Overwriting an existing save file cannot be undone unless you have a backup. Always create a backup from the Backups tab before replacing any save data.

    4. How to reset or wipe your world

If you want to start fresh with a new world, you can remove your current save data and let the server generate a new world on its next startup.

    1. Stop your server.
    2. Create a backup from the Backups tab if you want to keep a copy of your current world.
    3. Open the Files tab and navigate to your save data folder.
    4. Delete the existing save files or move them out of the active folder.
    5. Start your server. Palworld will generate a brand new world automatically.
    Back up before wiping

A world wipe permanently removes your current progress. Make sure you have a backup saved before you delete anything.

    5. How to back up your server automatically

Rather than downloading saves manually every time, you can set up automatic backups so the panel takes a snapshot of your server on a regular schedule.

    1. Click Backups in the left-hand menu.
    2. Use the backup controls to create a manual backup at any time, or go to the Schedules page to set up a recurring backup task.
    3. From the Schedules page, create a new schedule and set a backup action to run at whatever interval works best for your server, such as once a day or before a planned wipe.
Daily backups are a good habit

Setting up a daily automatic backup means you always have a recent restore point ready, even if something goes wrong unexpectedly.

    Troubleshooting

    • My world is not loading after I uploaded a save. Make sure the save files are in the correct folder and that the file names match what Palworld expects. Stop the server, double-check the file paths in the File Manager, then start it again.
    • My progress disappeared after a restart. This can happen if the server did not save properly before shutting down. Check your Backups tab for a recent backup you can restore from.
    • I cannot find my save files in the File Manager. Make sure you are looking in the right folder. Palworld saves are typically stored under Pal/Saved/SaveGames. If the folder looks empty, the server may not have been started yet or the world has not been generated.
    • The Worlds & Saves page is not showing anything. Try restarting the server at least once so it can generate its initial save data. If the issue continues, reach out to RiverHosting support.
