How to Manage Worlds on Your Palworld Server

    4 min read·Updated Jul 22, 2026

Learn how to manage your Palworld server worlds and saves from the RiverHosting panel so you can keep your progress safe and switch between saves with ease.

Your Palworld server stores all of your world progress in save files. The RiverHosting panel gives you a dedicated place to view and manage those saves without needing to dig through files manually. Whether you want to keep your current world safe before making changes or start fresh with a new one, this guide walks you through how to do it.

    Before you start

    • You need an active Palworld server on RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, you can order from riverhosting.com.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com and open your Palworld server.
    • It is a good idea to stop your server before making any changes to worlds or saves to avoid data corruption.
    Stop your server first

Always stop your Palworld server before switching saves or deleting world data. Making changes while the server is running can cause save corruption or data loss.

    1. How to find your worlds and saves

The easiest way to manage your Palworld world saves is through the built-in Worlds & Saves page in the panel.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and select your Palworld server.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Worlds & Saves.
    3. You will see your current world save listed here. This page gives you an overview of the save data stored on your server.
Check your save before you change anything

Before doing anything else, take a moment to read the save name shown on the Worlds & Saves page. This helps you confirm you are working with the right save file.

    2. How to back up your current world save

Before making any changes to your world, it is strongly recommended to create a backup. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can restore to your last good save.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Backups.
    2. Click the Create Backup button.
    3. Give your backup a name you will recognise, such as the date or a short description like before-world-change.
    4. Wait for the backup to complete. You will see it appear in the list once it is done.
    5. You can download a copy of the backup to your own computer by clicking the download icon next to it. This keeps your world data safe even if something happens on the server.
    Keep a local copy

Downloading a backup to your own computer is the safest way to protect your world. Panel backups are convenient, but having a copy saved locally means you always have a fallback.

    3. How to delete or reset your world save

If you want to start a fresh world on your Palworld server, you will need to remove or clear the existing save data. You can do this through the Worlds & Saves page or by using the File Manager.

Using the Worlds & Saves page:

    1. Stop your server from the main server page.
    2. Go to Worlds & Saves in the left-hand menu.
    3. Use the options available on that page to delete or reset your current save. Confirm any prompts that appear before proceeding.

Using the File Manager (alternative method):

    1. Stop your server.
    2. Go to Files in the left-hand menu to open the File Manager.
    3. Navigate to the save data folder for your Palworld server. This is usually found inside a folder named Pal/Saved/SaveGames.
    4. Select the save folder you want to remove and delete it.
    5. Start your server. It will generate a brand new world on the next boot.
    Deleting a save is permanent

Deleting your save data cannot be undone from the panel. Make sure you have a backup before you delete anything. Once the data is gone, it cannot be recovered unless you have a backup to restore from.

    4. How to restore a world save from a backup

If something went wrong and you need to roll back your world, you can restore from a backup you made earlier.

    1. Stop your server.
    2. Go to Backups in the left-hand menu.
    3. Find the backup you want to restore from the list.
    4. Click the restore icon or option next to that backup.
    5. Confirm the restore when prompted.
    6. Once the restore is complete, start your server again. Your world will be back to the state it was in when the backup was made.
    Restore complete

After a successful restore, your Palworld server will load the world from the backup. Players can rejoin and continue from that point.

    Troubleshooting

    • The server loads a blank world after a change: If your server starts with an empty world, it may not have found the save data. Check the Worlds & Saves page to confirm a save is present, or restore from a backup.
    • My backup is not showing up: Wait a moment and refresh the Backups page. Large saves can take a little longer to process. If the backup never appears, try creating a new one.
    • I cannot find the save folder in the File Manager: Make sure your server has been started at least once so the save folders are generated. If the folder path looks different to what is described above, check inside the Pal/Saved directory for a folder containing save data.
    • The server crashes after deleting save data: Stop the server, check the Console for any error messages, then start it again. A fresh world should generate automatically on the next boot.
    • I accidentally deleted my world: Go to Backups and restore the most recent backup. If you did not have a backup, unfortunately the data cannot be recovered. This is why creating backups before major changes is so important.
