How to Configure Your Palworld Server Settings from the Panel
Learn how to adjust your Palworld server settings from the RiverHosting panel so you can customize your world without editing any files by hand.
Palworld lets you tweak a huge range of settings that affect how your server plays, from experience rates and damage multipliers to drop rates and the maximum number of players. Instead of editing configuration files manually, the RiverHosting panel gives you a built-in Server Config page where you can change all of the most important options in one place.
This guide walks you through finding and using the Server Config page so you can get your Palworld server running exactly the way you and your friends want.
Before you start
- You need an active Palworld server with RiverHosting. If you have not ordered one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Make sure you have owner or admin access to the server. If you were invited as a subuser, check with the server owner that you have permission to change settings.
- It is a good idea to stop the server before making changes so settings are applied cleanly. You can restart it again once you are done.
Before changing any server settings, consider creating a quick backup from the Backups tab. That way you can restore your previous configuration if something does not work as expected.
1. Open the Server Config page
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
- Click on your Palworld server from the server list to open its management page.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
- The Server Config page will load with all of the available settings for your Palworld server.
The Server Config page reads and writes your Palworld server configuration for you. You do not need to locate or open any config files inside the File Manager unless you have a very specific advanced need.
2. Adjust your server settings
The Server Config page groups your settings into clear sections. Here are some of the most commonly adjusted options and what they do.
General settings
- Server name: The name that appears in the server browser when players search for your server.
- Server description: A short description shown alongside the server name.
- Server password: Set a password so only invited players can join. Leave this blank for an open server.
- Max players: The maximum number of players who can be on the server at the same time.
- Admin password: A separate password used to log in as a server admin in-game. Keep this private and different from the join password.
Gameplay multipliers
These settings let you speed up or slow down parts of the game to match your preferred playstyle. A value of 1.0 is the default, values above 1.0 increase that rate, and values below 1.0 decrease it.
- Experience rate: How quickly players gain experience.
- Pal capture rate: How easy it is to capture Pals.
- Pal damage rate: How much damage Pals deal.
- Player damage rate: How much damage players deal.
- Drop item rate: How often items drop from defeated enemies.
- Death drop item rate: How many items are dropped when a player dies.
- Pal stamina reduction rate: How quickly Pal stamina drains during activities.
- Build object damage rate: How much damage structures take.
- Collection drop rate: How much you gather from resources like trees and ore.
Many casual servers set the experience rate to around 2.0, the drop item rate to 2.0, and the Pal capture rate to 2.0. This keeps the game fun and rewarding without grinding too hard.
World and time settings
- Day time speed rate: How fast the in-game daytime passes. Lower values make days longer.
- Night time speed rate: How fast the in-game night passes.
- Pal egg default hatching time: How long it takes for Pal eggs to hatch, measured in in-game hours.
PvP and damage settings
- Enable PvP: Turns player versus player combat on or off.
- Enable friendly fire: Decides whether players can hurt their own teammates.
- Enable invader enemy: Turns on enemy faction raids on your base.
- Once you have made your changes, scroll to the bottom of the Server Config page and click Save or the equivalent save button.
Most settings do not apply until the server is restarted. After saving, go back to the main server page and restart your server for the new settings to take effect.
3. Restart your server to apply changes
- After saving your settings, click Console in the left-hand menu to go back to the main server page.
- Click the Restart button at the top of the page.
- Wait for the server to fully start up. You can watch the console output to see when it is ready.
- Once the server is online, join your Palworld server and confirm that the settings are working as expected.
Once the server is back online, your new configuration is live. Players who join will experience the updated rules and multipliers straight away.
4. Manage admins from the Admin Console
If you need to run admin commands in-game, Palworld uses an admin password rather than a separate permissions list. You set this password in the Server Config page under the admin password field.
You can also use the Admin Console page in the left-hand menu to run server commands directly from the RiverHosting panel without needing to be in-game. This is useful for actions like kicking a player or broadcasting a message to everyone on the server.
Troubleshooting
- My changes are not showing in-game. Make sure you clicked Save on the Server Config page and then fully restarted the server. A reload alone may not be enough for all settings.
- The server password is not working for players trying to join. Double-check the password in Server Config for any extra spaces. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Players cannot connect after I changed the max players setting. If the max players value is set to a number lower than the current number of players online, new players will be unable to join until a slot opens. Increase the value and restart.
- My admin password stopped working in-game. Check the Server Config page to confirm the admin password is still saved correctly, then restart the server and try again.
- The Server Config page is not loading. Try refreshing the panel in your browser. If the problem continues, reach out to RiverHosting support.
- I changed a multiplier but the game feels the same. Some multipliers only affect new sessions or new spawns. Give the server some time after restarting, or test in a fresh area of the map.
