How to migrate your Minecraft server from Nitrado to RiverHosting
Learn how to move your Nitrado Minecraft server to RiverHosting with the Migrate page in the panel, so your world, plugins and configs arrive without any downloading to your PC.
Moving your Minecraft server away from Nitrado does not mean downloading everything to your computer first. RiverHosting has a Migrate page that connects to Nitrado for you and copies your world, plugins and configs straight into your new server. This guide walks you through it step by step.
Before you start
- A RiverHosting server for Minecraft. Create it before you migrate, so your files go into a server that matches. You can manage it at https://panel.riverhosting.com.
- Access to your Nitrado Web Interface. Use the website version, not the mobile app or a console.
- Your Nitrado FTP login details: Hostname, Port, Username and Password.
- A few minutes of quiet time. Stopping the Nitrado server before you copy is a good idea, so your world is not changing while it is copied.
Do not cancel anything at Nitrado until you have checked that everything works on RiverHosting.
1. Step 1: Get your files from Nitrado
Nitrado describes how to find your FTP login in its FTP guide. In short:
- Open your Nitrado account menu and go to My Services, then Web Interface.
- On the Dashboard, scroll to the bottom to the FTP Credentials section.
- Copy the Hostname, Port, Username and Password. Keep them somewhere handy, such as a note on your computer.
As general good practice, stop your Nitrado server before you start the migration, so your world files are not changing while they are copied.
Nitrado calls this access method FTP, so choose FTP on the RiverHosting Migrate page.
2. Step 2: Make sure your RiverHosting server is ready
- Log in to https://panel.riverhosting.com and open the server you created for Minecraft.
- Open Migrate in the SYSTEM section of the sidebar.

When the panel detects the game on your Nitrado server, it offers Switch to <game> or Migrate Anyway. Switching goes through Game Changer, which wipes all files on your RiverHosting server and reinstalls it. A backup is taken automatically before the switch. As cautious advice, make any switch before you click Start Migration, so the wipe cannot remove files you have just copied.
3. Step 3: Fill in the Migrate page
- Set the protocol to FTP.
- In Host, enter the Hostname from Nitrado.
- In Port, enter the Port from Nitrado.
- In Username and Password, enter the values from Nitrado. Copy them exactly as shown.
- In Remote Path, enter the folder on Nitrado that holds your server files. For Minecraft, Nitrado's guides give examples such as
minecraft, minecraftbukkitorminecraftotherpacks. - In Destination Path, enter where the files should go on RiverHosting. To copy into the main folder of your server, use the base location of your server files.
- Click Test Connection.

If the test passes, you are ready to copy your files.
4. Step 4: Start the migration
- Click Start Migration.
- Watch Migration Status. It shows the progress and the file currently being copied.
- Wait until it finishes.
Files with the same name on your RiverHosting server are overwritten by the copied ones. If you click Cancel Migration, the files already copied stay on your server.
5. Step 5: Check your server and start it
- Open Files and check that your world folder, plugins and config files are there.
- Open Console. For Minecraft, if you see the banner Action Required: Accept Minecraft EULA, click Accept EULA.
- Click Start and watch the console until the server is online.
- Copy the IP from the server header and join from Minecraft to check your world.
Once everything looks right, open Backups and click Create Backup so you have a good copy of your freshly moved server.
Troubleshooting
- Test Connection fails: check that the Host, Port, Username, Password and protocol match what Nitrado shows under FTP Credentials. Check that the username and password are copied exactly.
- You cannot find FTP Credentials: make sure you are in the Nitrado Web Interface in a browser, not the mobile app or a console.
- The world is missing after migrating: check that the Remote Path points at the folder on Nitrado that holds your server files, then run the migration again.
- Nitrado changes do not show up in its own File Browser: Nitrado suggests logging out and back in, or refreshing the page.
- The migration was cancelled part way: files already copied are kept. You can start the migration again.
