How to Connect to Your Enshrouded Server

    3 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to find your Enshrouded server's connection details from the RiverHosting panel and get your friends joining your world in just a few steps.

Once your Enshrouded server is up and running on RiverHosting, you and your friends need the right connection details to join your world. This article walks you through finding those details in the RiverHosting panel and using them to connect directly from the Enshrouded game client.

    Before you start

    • Make sure your Enshrouded server is installed and running. You can check its status from the Console tab in the RiverHosting panel.
    • Make sure you own a copy of Enshrouded on Steam.
    • Your server needs to have fully started before anyone can connect. Look for a ready message in the Console to confirm it is online.
    Give it a moment

Enshrouded servers can take a minute or two to finish loading after you press Start. If a connection attempt fails right after startup, wait 60 seconds and try again.

    1. Find your server's connection details

Your server's IP address and game port are the two things players need to connect. You can find both of them on the Network page inside the RiverHosting panel.

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Select your Enshrouded server from the server list.
    3. Click Network in the left-hand menu.
    4. Note down the IP address and the game port shown on this page. You will need both when connecting.
    What port does Enshrouded use?

Enshrouded dedicated servers typically use port 15636 for player connections. The Network page will confirm the exact port assigned to your server.

If you want to keep your server private, you can set a password so only invited players can join. Enshrouded server passwords are configured through the Server Config page in the panel.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    2. Find the password field and enter the password you want to use.
    3. Save your changes and restart the server for the new password to take effect.
    Restart required

Password changes do not apply until the server is restarted. Use the Restart button on your server's main page after saving.

    3. Connect to your Enshrouded server

Once you have your IP address and port, here is how to join the server from inside Enshrouded.

    1. Open Enshrouded on Steam and reach the main menu.
    2. Click Play and then choose Join Game.
    3. Select the option to join by IP or direct connect, depending on your game version.
    4. Enter your server's IP address and port in the format IP:Port, for example 123.45.67.89:15636.
    5. If your server has a password, enter it when prompted.
    6. Click Connect and wait for the world to load.
    Example connection string

If your server IP is 123.45.67.89 and your port is 15636, you would enter: 123.45.67.89:15636

    4. Share a custom subdomain with your players (optional)

Sharing a raw IP address is not always easy to remember. RiverHosting lets you set up a custom subdomain so your players can connect with a friendlier address instead.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Subdomain Manager.
    2. Choose a subdomain name and pick one of the available base domains: playriver.net, playminecraft.pro, or playriver.xyz.
    3. Save your subdomain.
    4. Share the resulting address with your players, for example myguild.playriver.net.
    Easier for everyone

A custom subdomain like myguild.playriver.net is much easier for your friends to remember and type than a raw IP address and port number.

    5. Manage who can join with User Groups

Enshrouded servers on RiverHosting include a User Groups page where you can control access levels for different players. This is useful if you want to give trusted players more permissions or restrict what others can do on your server.

    1. Click User Groups in the left-hand menu.
    2. Review the available groups and adjust permissions to suit your community.
    3. Save any changes and restart the server if prompted.

    Troubleshooting

    • Cannot connect at all: Check that your server is fully started by opening the Console tab and looking for a ready confirmation message. If the server is still loading, wait and try again.
    • Connection timed out: Double-check the IP address and port from the Network page. Even a small typo will prevent a connection.
    • Wrong password error: Make sure the server was restarted after the password was set in Server Config. Old passwords may still be active if the server was not restarted.
    • Server not appearing in the in-game browser: Enshrouded's server browser can take time to refresh. Use the direct IP connection method instead for the most reliable results.
    • Friends can join but you cannot: Try connecting using the same IP and port rather than a local address. Connecting via the external IP works the same way for everyone.
