How to Rename Your Conan Exiles Server

    2 min read·Updated Jul 22, 2026

Learn how to change your Conan Exiles server name from the RiverHosting panel so your players can find it easily in the server browser.

Your Conan Exiles server name is the first thing players see when browsing for a server to join. Giving it a clear and recognisable name makes it easier for your friends to find it in the list and helps set the tone for your community.

You can change your server name at any time from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files by hand. This guide walks you through the whole process in just a few steps.

    Before you start

    • You need an active Conan Exiles server with RiverHosting. You can manage it at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • You will need to restart your server after saving changes for the new name to appear in the server browser.
    • Server names must follow Conan Exiles naming rules. Avoid special characters that could cause display issues.
    Pick a memorable name

A short, easy-to-read server name is much easier for players to search for in the Conan Exiles server browser than a long string of random characters.

    1. How to change your Conan Exiles server name

The quickest way to update your server name is through the built-in Server Config page in the panel. Here is how to do it:

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    2. Click on your Conan Exiles server from the server list.
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    4. Find the field labelled Server Name (sometimes shown as the server title or display name).
    5. Clear the current name and type your new server name.
    6. Scroll down and click Save to apply the change.
    7. Restart your server so the new name takes effect. You can do this from the main server page by clicking the Restart button at the top.
    Changes saved

Once your server restarts, the new name will appear in the Conan Exiles in-game server browser. Players searching for your server should see the updated name straight away.

    2. How to verify the new name is showing correctly

After your server has finished restarting, it is worth confirming that the name has updated properly before sharing it with your players.

    1. Open Conan Exiles on your own computer.
    2. Go to Play Online and search for your server name in the server browser.
    3. Check that the name shown matches what you entered in the panel.

If you do not see the new name yet, wait a minute or two and refresh the list. Server browser directories can take a short time to update after a restart.

    Direct connection alternative

If your players connect using your server's IP address and port directly rather than the server browser, they will join the correct server regardless of what name is displayed. You can find your connection details on the Network page in the left-hand menu.

    Troubleshooting

    • The old name is still showing in-game. Make sure you clicked Save in the Server Config page before restarting. If you saved and restarted but the old name still appears, restart the server once more and allow a couple of minutes for the browser list to refresh.
    • The Server Config page does not show a name field. Try scrolling through all the options on the page as the field may be lower down. If you still cannot find it, contact support for help.
    • The server name shows garbled characters. Some special characters are not supported in Conan Exiles server names. Stick to standard letters, numbers, and basic punctuation.
    • Players still cannot find the server in the browser. The Conan Exiles server browser can be slow to reflect changes. Share your server's direct IP address and port from the Network page as a reliable fallback while the browser updates.
