How to Configure Your Conan Exiles Server Settings from the Panel

    4 min read·Updated Jul 21, 2026

Learn how to adjust your Conan Exiles server settings directly from the RiverHosting panel so you can customise gameplay without editing any files by hand.

Conan Exiles gives you a lot of control over how your server plays, from combat difficulty and crafting speed to day length and player damage. The RiverHosting panel puts all of these settings in one place so you can make changes quickly without touching any files or restarting unless it is really needed.

This guide walks you through finding and updating your Conan Exiles server settings from the panel, including how to apply changes and what to do if something does not work as expected.

    Before you start

    • You need an active Conan Exiles server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • Select your Conan Exiles server from the server list.
    • Some settings only take effect after a server restart, so try to make your changes during a quiet period if players are online.
    Save before you restart

Make a note of any values you are changing before you apply them. That way, if you want to undo a change later, you know exactly what the original setting was.

    1. Open the Server Config page

The Server Config page is the main place to adjust how your Conan Exiles server behaves. It presents the most common settings in a clean form so you do not need to edit any configuration files manually.

    1. Log in to panel.riverhosting.com and open your Conan Exiles server.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    3. The page will load with your current server settings displayed in grouped sections.

Take a moment to look through the sections before making any changes. Settings are grouped by category, such as general server options, player settings, and gameplay values, so it is easy to find what you are looking for.

    2. Adjust your general server settings

General settings control the basics of how your server appears and runs. These are usually the first things you want to set up when configuring a new server.

    1. On the Server Config page, look for the section covering your server name and password options.
    2. Update your server name so players can identify it in the server browser.
    3. If you want to restrict access, set a server password. Leave this blank if you want the server to be open to anyone.
    4. Set the maximum number of players you want to allow at one time.
    5. Once you are happy with these values, scroll down and click Save or the equivalent save button on the page.
    Restart required

Changes to your server name and password usually require a restart before they appear in the public server browser. You can restart from the main server page using the restart button at the top.

    3. Adjust gameplay and difficulty settings

Conan Exiles has a wide range of gameplay sliders and toggles that let you shape how the game feels for your players. These include options like player damage, NPC damage, crafting time, harvest rates, and day and night cycle length.

    1. Still on the Server Config page, scroll to the gameplay or difficulty section.
    2. Adjust values such as:
      • Player damage multiplier
      • NPC damage multiplier
      • Harvest amount multiplier
      • Crafting time multiplier
      • Day and night cycle speed
    3. Higher values generally make the setting stronger. For example, a harvest multiplier above 1.0 means players gather more resources per action, while a value below 1.0 means less.
    4. Click Save when you are done.
    Testing new settings

If you are not sure how a new value will feel in-game, make one change at a time and test it before adjusting anything else. That way it is easier to spot which setting caused an unexpected result.

    4. Manage mods from the Mods page

Conan Exiles supports mods through the Steam Workshop, and the RiverHosting panel includes a dedicated Mods page to help you manage them.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Mods.
    2. From this page you can add mods by entering their Workshop IDs or URLs, and remove mods you no longer want.
    3. The order mods are listed in matters. If two mods change the same thing, the one listed lower in the list takes priority. Drag mods to reorder them if needed.
    4. Save your mod list and restart the server to apply the changes.
    Mod compatibility

Not all mods work well together. If your server starts behaving unexpectedly after adding a mod, try removing the most recently added one and restarting to see if that resolves it.

    5. Find your server connection details

Once your settings are configured, you can share your server address with players so they can join.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Network.
    2. You will see your server's IP address and the port players use to connect.
    3. Share these details with anyone you want to invite to your server.
    Set up a custom subdomain

Instead of sharing a long IP address, you can set up a friendly subdomain like exiles.playriver.net using the Subdomain Manager in the left-hand menu. It makes your server address much easier to remember and share.

    Troubleshooting

    • Changes do not seem to take effect: Most settings require a server restart. Use the restart button at the top of your server page after saving.
    • Server Config page will not save: Make sure all fields have valid values. Leaving a required field blank or entering a value outside the expected range can prevent saving.
    • Server is not appearing in the browser after a name change: It can take a few minutes for the server browser to update. Try connecting directly using the IP and port from the Network page while you wait.
    • Mods are not loading: Double-check that the Workshop IDs are correct and that the mods are compatible with the current version of Conan Exiles. Also make sure you saved the mod list and restarted the server.
    • Players cannot join after setting a password: Make sure the players are entering the password exactly as it appears in your settings, including any capital letters or symbols.
