How to Change the PvP Setting on Your V Rising Server
Learn how to enable or disable PvP on your V Rising server from the RiverHosting panel so you can shape the experience for your players without editing any files.
V Rising gives you control over whether players can attack each other on your server. Whether you want a cooperative vampire adventure or a full bloodbath between players, you can change the PvP setting quickly from the RiverHosting panel without touching any config files manually.
Before you start
- You need an active V Rising server with RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com and open your V Rising server.
- PvP changes take effect after a server restart, so let your players know before you make the change.
Changing PvP mode requires a server restart before it takes effect. Players currently online will be disconnected when you restart.
1. Open the Game Rules page
The easiest way to change PvP on your V Rising server is through the built-in Game Rules page in the panel. This lets you adjust gameplay settings without manually editing config files.
- Log in to panel.riverhosting.com and select your V Rising server.
- In the left-hand menu, click Game Rules.
- Look for the PvP setting. It is typically a toggle or dropdown that lets you choose between PvP enabled and PvP disabled.
- Set it to your preferred option.
- Scroll down and click Save to apply the change.
If you want players to cooperate and explore together without conflict, disable PvP. If you want competitive gameplay where vampires can fight each other, enable it.
2. Restart your server to apply the change
After saving the Game Rules setting, you need to restart your server for the change to take effect.
- In the left-hand menu, click Console.
- Use the power controls at the top of the Console page to restart your server. Click the restart button and confirm if prompted.
- Wait for the server to fully start back up. You will see startup messages appear in the console output.
- Once the server is online, connect and verify that the PvP setting is now active.
Your V Rising server is now running with the updated PvP setting. Players who join will experience the mode you selected.
Troubleshooting
- The PvP setting does not seem to have changed in-game. Make sure you clicked Save on the Game Rules page before restarting. If you navigated away without saving, the change will not have been applied.
- Players can still attack each other after disabling PvP. Give the server a full restart rather than just a reload. If the issue continues, check the Game Rules page to confirm the setting is still saved correctly.
- The Game Rules page is not showing the PvP option. Try refreshing the panel page in your browser. If the option is still missing, contact RiverHosting support for assistance.
- The server restarted but players are reporting errors when joining. Check the Console for any error messages during startup. If something looks unusual, reach out to support with the log details.
