How to Change the PvP Setting on Your Conan Exiles Server

    2 min read·Updated Jul 22, 2026

Learn how to turn PvP on or off for your Conan Exiles server using the RiverHosting panel so you can shape the experience your players get from day one.

Conan Exiles lets you decide whether players can attack each other on your server. Whether you want a ruthless PvP world where anyone can be a target or a cooperative PvE experience focused on survival and building together, you can change this setting quickly from the RiverHosting panel without touching any files by hand.

    Before you start

    • You need an active Conan Exiles server with RiverHosting.
    • Log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com and open your server.
    • It is a good idea to let your players know before you change PvP settings, as the change takes effect after the server restarts.
    Restart required

Changing the PvP setting requires a server restart before it takes effect. Players currently online will be disconnected briefly.

    1. Open the Server Config page

    1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel and select your Conan Exiles server.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config. This page gives you access to the most common server settings without needing to edit any configuration files directly.
    3. Look for the PvP or player-versus-player option. It is usually presented as a toggle or a dropdown that lets you choose between PvP enabled and PvP disabled.
    4. Set it to your preferred option.
    5. Click Save to apply your changes.
Not sure which mode to pick?

PvP allows players to attack and kill each other anywhere on the map. PvE disables player-versus-player combat entirely, which is great for friend groups who just want to explore and build together without the risk of being raided by strangers.

    2. Restart your server to apply the change

    1. After saving, go back to your server's main page in the panel.
    2. Click Restart to reboot the server. The new PvP setting will be active as soon as the server comes back online.
    3. Once the server has restarted, log in to Conan Exiles and confirm that the PvP setting is working as expected.
    Change confirmed

If you load into the game and can no longer attack other players (or can, depending on your setting), the change has been applied successfully.

    Troubleshooting

    • The PvP setting does not seem to have changed. Make sure you clicked Save on the Server Config page before restarting. If you navigated away without saving, the change will not have been stored.
    • Players can still attack each other after disabling PvP. Make sure the server has fully restarted and that you are not still in a session that loaded before the restart. Reconnect to the server after it comes back up.
    • The Server Config page is not showing a PvP option. Try scrolling through the full page, as there can be quite a few settings listed. If you still cannot find it, reach out to support for guidance.
    • The server is not restarting. Use the Console page to check for any errors that might be preventing the server from starting back up.
