How to Change the Admin Password on Your Palworld Server
Learn how to set or update the admin password on your Palworld server using the RiverHosting panel so you can keep admin access secure and under your control.
Your Palworld server has an admin password that lets you run admin commands in-game, such as kicking players, adjusting settings on the fly, or saving the world manually. Setting a strong admin password means only people you trust can use those commands, even if your server is open to the public.
This guide shows you how to set or change the admin password from the RiverHosting panel in just a few steps. No file editing is required.
Before you start
- You need an active Palworld server on RiverHosting. If you do not have one yet, visit riverhosting.com to get started.
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel and open your Palworld server.
- Your server will need to restart after you save the change so the new password takes effect. Let your players know before you restart.
The new admin password will not be active until you restart your server. Save your changes first, then restart from the panel.
1. Open the Server Config page
- Log in to the RiverHosting panel.
- Click on your Palworld server to open its management page.
- In the left-hand menu, click Server Config. This is the built-in settings editor for your Palworld server.
The Server Config page lets you change your server settings without touching any configuration files directly. It is the fastest and safest way to make changes.
2. Set or update your admin password
- On the Server Config page, look for the admin password field. It is usually labelled something like Admin Password.
- Click into the field and type your chosen password. Pick something strong that you will remember, but that others cannot easily guess.
- Once you have entered the password, click Save or the equivalent save button at the bottom of the page.
Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid simple passwords like admin or 1234, especially on a public server.
3. Restart your server to apply the change
- After saving, go to the main page of your server in the panel.
- Click the Restart button to restart your server.
- Wait for the server to come back online. This usually takes less than a minute.
- Once the server is running, your new admin password is active.
Your Palworld server is now using the new admin password. You and anyone you share it with can use it to authenticate as an admin in-game.
4. Use the admin password in-game
Once the server is back online, you can activate admin access in-game by opening the chat or console and using the admin login command with your password. After authenticating, you will have access to admin commands for the session.
You will need to enter the admin password each time you join the server and want admin access. It is not saved between sessions automatically.
Troubleshooting
- The admin password does not seem to work in-game. Make sure you restarted the server after saving. Changes to Server Config only take effect after a full restart.
- I saved the password but the field looks empty when I reopen Server Config. Some fields may not display the saved value for security reasons. Try using the password in-game to confirm it was saved correctly.
- I forgot the admin password I set. Go back to Server Config, enter a new password, save, and restart. You do not need the old password to replace it from the panel.
- The Server Config page is not showing the admin password field. Make sure your server is running a standard Palworld setup. If you recently changed your server type or framework, the available settings may differ. Contact support if the option is missing entirely.
