How to Change the Seed for Your Enshrouded Server World

    3 min read·Updated Jul 22, 2026

Learn how to change the world seed on your Enshrouded server from the RiverHosting panel so you and your friends can start a fresh adventure on a brand new map.

Every Enshrouded world is shaped by a seed, which is a number that tells the game how to generate the terrain, resources, and layout of your map. If you want to start fresh with a completely different world, or if you have a specific seed you want to try, you can change it from the RiverHosting panel without touching any files manually.

This guide walks you through how to update your world seed, start a new world, and make sure your server is ready for your group to explore.

Changing the seed will wipe your current world

When you change the world seed, your existing world will be replaced with a brand new one. Any buildings, progress, and items in the old world will be lost. Make sure you back up your server first if you want to keep a copy.

    Before you start

    • Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
    • Make sure your server is stopped before making any world changes. You can stop it from the main server page using the Stop button.
    • If you want to keep your current world, go to the Backups tab and create a backup before continuing.
    • Have your new seed ready. This is usually a number. If you do not have one in mind, leaving the field blank or entering a random number will generate a new world.

    1. Back up your current world

Before changing anything, it is a good idea to save a copy of your current world in case you change your mind later.

    1. Open your server in the RiverHosting panel.
    2. Click Backups in the left-hand menu.
    3. Click Create Backup and wait for it to finish.
    4. Once the backup is complete, you can safely move on.
    Label your backup

If you create a backup before wiping, give it a clear name like "Old World Before Seed Change" so you can find it easily if you ever want to restore it.

    2. Change the world seed from the Server Config page

Enshrouded stores its world seed in the server configuration. The RiverHosting panel gives you a built-in editor so you do not need to edit files by hand.

    1. Make sure your server is stopped.
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
    3. Look for the seed setting. It is usually labelled something like Seed or World Seed.
    4. Enter your new seed value in the field. Use a number of your choice, or clear the field to let the server generate a random one.
    5. Save your changes using the Save button on the page.
    Where do seeds come from?

You can find Enshrouded seeds shared by other players in community forums, subreddits, and Discord servers. Seeds are usually just numbers, so copy and paste the exact value to get the same world.

    3. Delete the old world files

Changing the seed in the config is not enough on its own. The server also needs to start with no existing world data, otherwise it will load the old world instead of generating a new one.

    1. In the left-hand menu, click Files to open the File Manager.
    2. Navigate to the folder where your Enshrouded world data is saved. This is typically inside a folder named savegame or similar in your server directory.
    3. Select the world save files or folder for your current world.
    4. Delete them so the server has no existing world to load.
    Do not skip this step

If you leave the old world files in place, the server may ignore your new seed and continue loading the existing world. Deleting the save data ensures the new seed takes effect properly.

    4. Start your server and confirm the new world

Once the seed is updated and the old world files are removed, you are ready to start fresh.

    1. Go back to the main server page.
    2. Click Start to launch the server.
    3. Watch the Console tab as the server starts. You should see it generating a new world.
    4. Once the server is fully online, join the game and confirm you have a new world.
    New world is ready

If everything went smoothly, you and your friends will load into a brand new Enshrouded world shaped by the seed you chose.

    Troubleshooting

    • The old world is still loading. Double check that you deleted the old save files from the File Manager. The server will continue loading existing data if the files are still there.
    • The seed setting is not visible in Server Config. Make sure your server is stopped, then refresh the page and try again. Some settings are only editable when the server is offline.
    • The server crashes on startup after changing the seed. Check the Console tab for error messages. A typo in the seed field could cause issues. Try clearing the seed field and letting the server generate a random one to confirm the server starts correctly.
    • I deleted my old world by mistake and want it back. If you created a backup before making changes, go to the Backups tab, find your backup, and use the Restore option to bring it back.
