How to Rename Your ARK: Survival Ascended Server

Your ARK: Survival Ascended server name is what players see when they browse the server list in-game. Changing it to something memorable makes it easier for your friends to find and join your server. You can update the name at any time directly from the RiverHosting panel without editing any files manually.

Before you start

• Make sure you have an active ARK: Survival Ascended server with RiverHosting. You can log in to the panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
• You will need to restart your server after saving the name change for it to take effect.
• Pick a name that is easy to read and share. Avoid special characters that may not display correctly in the ARK server browser.

1. How to change your ARK: Survival Ascended server name

1. Log in to the RiverHosting panel at panel.riverhosting.com.
2. Click on your ARK: Survival Ascended server from the server list.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Server Config.
4. Look for the server name field. It is usually labelled something like Session Name or Server Name.
5. Clear the current name and type your new server name.
6. Click Save to apply the change.
7. Restart your server so the new name is picked up. You can do this from the Console page by clicking the Restart button.

2. How to confirm the name has changed

1. Open ARK: Survival Ascended on your computer.
2. Go to the server browser and search for your new server name.
3. If you can see it listed, the change worked correctly.
4. If it does not appear straight away, wait a minute or two and refresh the list. Server browsers can take a short time to update.

Troubleshooting

• The name did not change after saving. Make sure you clicked Save before restarting. If you close the page without saving, your changes will be lost.
• The old name is still showing in the server browser. The ARK server browser can take a few minutes to refresh. Try searching again after a short wait.
• The name shows strange characters or is cut off. Some special characters are not supported in ARK server names. Try using only standard letters, numbers, and spaces.
• I cannot find the Server Config page. Make sure you are on the correct server. Click your ARK: Survival Ascended server from the main list on the panel home page, then look in the left-hand menu for Server Config.
• My server is not appearing in the browser at all. Check that your server is running by looking at the Console page. If it shows as offline, start it using the Start button.
